    DBTC: ROYGBIV Rhodactis mushroom

Wow John looks like some of them are "bouncing" with bubbles... or they normally look like that and I just can't fricking tell because I'm not near sighted (i.e. no macro-vision when I take my glasses off). That said, I appreciate looking out for me, I kept a few when I got rid of the majority...

    Be careful!

Yup my bout with vermitid snails and puncturing my knuckle, went similar to the photo, I saw the long red "road" going up my arm. My hand puffed up big time too like I was wearing training gloves. Luckily no surgery was necessary and the broad spectrum AB they put me on knocked it down (I...

    3/20/22 Frag swap volunteer thread

More volunteers are always welcomed, if there's 10 guys setting up instead of 2 it just means you go twice as fast (no, not 5 times faster that's bureaucracy for you!). Whomever is there first can tell ya what to do, I think @JVU will be one of the first ones there since he's relatively close.

    Black urchins

it's the shape made to stars in the sky, e.g. the Big Dipper :) Asterinas on the other hand are those little starfish people seem to flip flop over how good/bad they are.

    Bizarro Cyphastrea

Sure thing, not sure when to pick up though as I'll not be at the frag swap. So if you don't have any place to store a frag feel free to give it on to someone else.

Used Gear swap/sale at 3/20 frag swap?

From what I understand there is an entire parking lot area around the back that has zero traffic flowing through it so there definitely is places to sell/get rid of old stuff. Although 100% you can not leave anything, it is not the clubs responsibility to deal with stuff you can't get rid of...

Super glue & sand rock bonding technique

I saw one of the Aussie guys (Gallery Aquatica I believe) do something similar, except they take pieces of rock and pulverize it into a dust, I'm guessing it works a smidge better with more surface area and what not, either way seems like a very quick and easy way to put stuff together without...

Do you set up tanks outside of your house?

I say go for it... then when PG&E determines what "baseline quantities" are for this area based on the average electrical usage of similar homes I'll get to use a lot more electricity before getting charged so much! :D (I kid, I kid, my usage for last month was negative 95 kWh)

Who to believe? RedSea reading 3 Amm, 1 Ni, 5 Na. API reading 1 Amm, 0 Ni, 40 Na

I would say don't worry about it, a tank will cycle when it cycles. But your livestock arrives in 1-3 weeks? Yikes. Hopefully it's nothing particularly sensitive.

Zoa ID-would these be good for the swap?

Absolutely would be fine to bring to the swap, couldn't tell you what they're called other than zoanthid :D

    3/20/22 Frag swap volunteer thread

As always thanks to those who have volunteered to help, these events don't happen without help from others. I edited the first post to reflect where I've placed people. For those who were "non-committal" with a specific task I simply inserted you were there was space. If you'd rather do...

RODI System Not Making Water - Can’t figure it out

Any waste water coming out at all? I would suggest Ken's @Meshmez idea though make sure the output isn't in some way clogged.

    What happened to Terrence ?

Is he? Did he go completely mobile? I mean there was all that hooplah about the big tank he had installed in his house and everything.

Yup! Damaged eyeballs are replaceable, COVID lasts forever... or do I got that mixed up?

    Should I care about ORP?

In general, no In specific cases like if you want to run ozone, yes.

    Heater sizing

Depends upon how cold the room the tank in is. If you keep it inside your house and you're one of those who keeps your house at 75, then yeah not much heating needed, if you keep your tank (or sump) in an uninsulated garage then you'll need more heating in the winter. General rule of...

    Alkalinity precipitation in solution.

I used to have precipitation issues when I dosed the alkalinity solution, white clouds with every drop hitting the water, so I would make 1/2 strength solutions and then never saw it again, and sure I'm adding twice as much water but it wasn't anywhere near what my evaporation rate was so I...

    PSA on Vibrant

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, lying about what is in your product is 1000% worse than being one of the dancing monkeys that tells you this product is great because of how it's different by reading the marketing on the box. But at some point maybe we should demand a bit more out of our monkeys...
