    DIY Algae Reactor ideas

@RandyC I wonder if you can somehow adhere the string of LEDs to the PVC pipe cover instead of directly on the reactor. Have less heat and less potential of damage to reactor?

    Calcium Reactor recommendation needed

Yea, especially if can find used about $200. I see aquarium regulators from Asia on eBay using Japanese stc solenoids for less than $100. Not sure about those but I'm sure they work too.

    Calcium Reactor recommendation needed

I did see that one, but the back of the reg and solenoid is brass? I do get a lot of salt creep and spray around the sump because I have a pretty strong fan blowing across to cool.

    Calcium Reactor recommendation needed

Thanks for the info guys. Since I'm in no rush, I'll wait until I can find a used geo and ss regulator/carbondoser, masterflex. Otherwise, black friday or holidays sales will entice me to get a new one. In the meantime, maybe piece together my own regulator or just get one from Alan. I have...

    Calcium Reactor recommendation needed

Reviving this thread, looking for recommendations or if anyone has any equipment for sale. I've got a 120g display, 50g sump, 40g frag, about 175g water total, but will swap to 60g frag, so about 20g more to about 200g. Currently auto dosing about 80 mL each of 2 parts, less for Mag through...

    Fritz salt

I broke my arm so haven't been doing much maintenance, but I just tested this batch of water, which has been sitting for almost a month, and it only dropped to 7.0 dkh. I'll do more of IO ratio next time, maybe 50/50. Anyways, the buffer solution seems good too, I just don't have any on hand...

    I suck at salinity

You should never put salt directly into tank. I know you don't have anything in it yet, but it's a big no no. Salt wouldn't fully circulate and dissolve right away, thus getting delayed increase of salinity. Need to full dissolve and premix in separate container to get an accurate reading...

    I suck at salinity

Did you add salt directly to the tank/sump, or premix separately in a saltwater mixing container?

    Coral help

Top off every day would be better. Getting an Auto top off system would be best. How much you top off after those few days? If you don't keep stony corals, then you have much more room for parameter swings.

Alk needs to be stable for stony corals. Like ash said, how is your freshwater topoff for evaporation?

sBox Extreme 32" - Any Good thoughts?

If I were to try a light from them, they are marketing their Ultra line that's coming soon. Although their lights are Chinese imports, I do have their sBar actinic led bar which I like and it's decently priced.

    Fritz salt

Now that I think about it, I had to dose extra Ca and Mag to IO too.

    Fritz salt

Now I'm trying to compare IO with Muratic Acid to lower Alk or Fritz and buffering it with sea Chem reef builder (any other product that does same thing?) Both solutions are same difference? IO and Muratic Acid is cheaper for sure though. Fritz combo might have better trace elements. Looking...

Maybe if someone going to the swap wants to pick up from me, can have it at the swap for members to bring their hanna alks to check with it.
