    Amperage of equipment

Maximum wattage is typically easy to find for individual devices, and you can divide watts by voltage to obtain a back-of-the-envelope calculation for ampres (Amps = Watts / Volts). So if an Ebo-Jager heater actually draws 150W, divide by 120 V to get 1.25 A (150W / 120 V = 1.25 A). If you're...

anyone tried reef chili or reef roids?

Reef Chili seems hard to come by ever since this study about the effects of food, flow, and light on three Hawaiian corals came out. I can give you some to try, but it's a couple years old and has been unrefrigerated, so at best you may be able to see how well suspended it is in the water column.

LFS with cured LR? LOL nope.

John, I couldn't find any definitive conclusion from the datasheets and labels on the manufacturer site that the only ingredients are HCl and water. You're right to be concerned and I would err on the side of caution, even if others are reporting it's safe to use. Perhaps a drive out to Lowes...

LFS with cured LR? LOL nope.

Expand your search! There are several excellent LFSs serving the Bay Area. More than most other hobbies, I think ours appeals to the DIYer with the mentality that it could be done better, or those who relish doing something for the sake of having the experience. If I don't like what the four...

    A pair of Dr Seuss

The pair looks amazing - hope you successfully breed them, Rich! I would love a captive bred B. pylei. There was some mention of these fish releasing toxins after passing away, and in this paper, the authors write: "Skin of fresh specimen of B. pylei tasting [sic] bitter when licked (J. E...

@BAYMAC - thanks for trying to find the files, we should be alright. @Apon - I appreciate that you want to help with lunch. Perhaps you can take over for next year's lunch with more advance planning? Currently we look to be set with a catering service that will provide sausages, hamburgers...

Picasso Clown pair spawn: Odd couple

Yes, you want to try to get clay or otherwise natural substrate, which could be found at Home Depot. 4" terra cotta pots are great IME, though some folks have trouble aerating them for hatching and prefer tiles. If you use a tile, I would suggest avoiding glazed finishes that would prevent...

    BAP 2013 T-shirts

Pre-orders are now closed. I wanted to extend it as much as possible without upsetting the printers, and we can't hold out any longer without missing the event date. Luckily we've got everyone who's posted in this thread accounted for.

Picasso Clown pair spawn: Odd couple

Whoo, congratulations Junne! The first 3-5 spawns are typically disappointing in terms of hatch rate or larvae survival. I recommend keep feeding the parents well and practice rotifer culturing until the third spawn or later. Try putting a removable substrate such as a pot or tile near where...
