    Ecoflow battery w/ Apex EB832

I have both of my tanks on ecoflow batteries (Reefer 500 and a 60ish gallon frag tank). I split things to two separate power supplies (kasa hs300 power strips): AC Power (wall) -> EcoFlow AC Outlet -> Critical power strip -> return pump -> one...

    Fresh off the boat!!!

That's what I heard too, but might have been someone from this forum. However, the design inherently requires magnets anyway because that's how it would be able to transfer energy through the glass. Given that, it seems plausible that suction cup is a good solution to the dreaded dry side...

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

I think collecting info from this group would be interesting for sure. More definitive info could likely come from LFS who sell them, but I don't think it's really fair to publicly ask that info of them. Puts them in a no win situation.

    Richie's Reefer 500

A reefwave 45 and a mp40. No issues with either. I do basically no maintenance on them and haven't had any real issues. I did have the reefwave get stuck awhile back and not rotate, but I just manually pushed it to get it spinning and it fixed itself. I can't recall if it was because a pencil...

    Richie's Reefer 500

Some updated pics from today. Things are again growing very well. No known pests, unless you count a small amount of asterina starfish. I do have an ongoing issue with algae on the sand bed, possibly due to low flow on the far side. However I'm unwilling to add powerheads and cords on the far...

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

I'm on the "maybe red sea just sells more" camp. Feels like it's hard to really tell. However I do think there's been enough weird issues that I look at my Red Sea tank and double check seals. Regarding if the 9 out of 10 analysis works, it would be interesting to know relative sales volumes...

Anyone else hit by the Oakland power outage?

Having shared battery backups or generators available in the club would be interesting. Maybe not realistic since once one person's power starts going out, everyone's might be, however it's not always that way. I have two eco flows as well, both with an extra battery. If anyone needs one...

Yellow clown goby - free pickup in San Jose

I meant this as mostly a joke, but I think it'd actually be doable with a fish like this. Take a shopvac. Put a piece of foam a couple inches down the pipe. Put tube in tank. Turn on, sucked in, cover, turn off. Fish would be against the foam. Speed could be adjusted by partially plugging the...

Complete Bonus/Ultra Coral List - 2024 (REVISED AS OF 11/14/24)

Also not to be a harbinger of doom, but getting a bunch of corals from people and sticking them into your new, clean, display might be treacherous. Lots of good people in the club, lots of good and generous corals, but just like any other source, assume it's full of pests and needs dips, scrubs...

Yellow clown goby - free pickup in San Jose

Oh man, that's a small fish to try and get in a tank full of his favorite snack. Good on you for trying and caring, but that seems like it's going to be a nightmare to catch. I wonder if a shop vac would work. Ideally with some foam in the end so he doesn't get smashed against the inside.

Bailed Banana torch journal (help welcome!)

If you want a 3d printed lid in transparent lmk. I can even print you a different cage. I'm pretty sure I have clear PET-G in my pile of filament. That being said, if it was me, I wouldn't touch anything. I didn't know they could even survive at all after a bail out.

    Flooring options

super useful. thanks! I think I'm team LVP now. I'm not sure if I'm inadvertently, biased-reading, and hearing what I want, however seems like most everyone's very pro-LVP. Definitely the bestest in terms of maintenance I can tell. I didn't realize the reinforcing would be that expensive. Going...

    Bottle Bacteria Breakdowns

Can someone summarize? I'm guessing I could copy paste the list of bacteria and get something to describe, but I don't really understand what I'm seeing in those lists.

    Flooring options

Anyone else able to vouch for engineered hardwood and water? I imagine it would be fine for standing spills, but what about having a gallon of water overflow a sump and you can't really clean it up perfectly under the tank. I mention that because it happened yesterday. My water level got too...

Red Sea ATO ordered. Thanks for the inputs!

    Flooring options

We need to get some flooring replaced, and as these things do the project is scope creeping... The area my tank is in is now part of the potential scope. Options being discussed: luxury vinyl, engineered wood, hardwood. Hardwood seems cool in theory, but expensive, and given the cost of any...

Bestest ATO out there: give me opinions, help me not build one

Ah F it, I can see how this would work and it basically checks every box for me. Triple bonus points that I can just buy the cheaper upgrade kit version and it'll drop in replace in the sump. Luckily I have some BRS credit saved up, so I'm going to think about it until tomorrow then buy this...

Bestest ATO out there: give me opinions, help me not build one

Seems like the only complication then would be I need to build a very extended power line for the pump, rest should work. I'll mull this route over, thanks.

    Fridge drawer repair questions

I'd grab some 2 part epoxy at the local ace hardware (or whatever store) that's designed for plastic. While there grab one of those wall patch kits that are metal, or a thin piece of plastic. Rough sand the back of the drawer (optionally), layer some epoxy, put the patch or plastic over it...
