    Aquarium Concepts LFS

Bummer. Got my first reef tank (RSM 130) from them. Their displays got me into the hobby. Will miss them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Thanks for the insight. My Maroon pair is leaving the tangs alone. I am sure it helps that the Maroons are still small (3 inches) and the tangs are at least 5 inches and can hold their own. BTW, my Powder Brown stood up to the Scopas. They are now "frenemies" ;-)

I got to grow them out before I send them across the bay to the Tang Mansion!

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Foxface and Yellow Tang stand up to the Powder Blue, which was a bully when it moved in but Foxface showed its spines and Yellow Tang showed that it also has its own scalpels. Now the "Big Three" all get along and even feed together peacefully on the nori trough. Sent from my iPhone using...

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Any problems with room for your Achilles? I think the Powder Brown will be a similar size. I have a 5.5 inch Powder Blue in a 48x30x30 and it seems to have enough room and uses power heads like treadmills. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Ordered them with a small Maxima Clam that I could not find anywhere locally. Needed $30 more for free shipping. The only LFS within a reasonable drive is Aquarium Concepts...I checked last week and it was still closed. Dealing with 580 traffic in Pleasanton/Dublin (regardless of time of day)...

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Erin, yes "cycling scmycling"! The cycle on my 200g system was fast with Dr. Tims and then Prodibio Biodigest/Bioptim and huge water changes with cheap Instant Ocean. [weekly 20% WCs with RC now]. I was not sure whether to plumb my SPS tank to my existing system, so I started cycling it while...

48x24x20 cycling for 2 months. Maroons moved to tank from fuge less than 1 month...they are still hiding. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

Have lots of fry and see which 2 survive. I think mine only survived because one of them was really aggressive and the other really submissive so they came to an understanding before they killed each other. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Maroon Clowns & P Brown Tang (A. Japonicus)

I am considering purchasing a Powder Brown Tang to keep in my SPS only tank, which houses a pair of small 2 inch (for now) Maroon Clowns only. Questions: (1) Has anyone successfully kept tangs with mated pair of maroons long term? (I know @Coral reefer probably knows the answer but I thought...

    Chiller dilemma

Yes, that's what I understand. Keeping temps a little high during the summer to avoid large swings. Teco chiller says 80 and Apex says 81. I finally got everything set to vary no more than 1 degree. BTW, Mike, the montis and acros you gave me are doing wonderfully. The Bali Slimer is...

    Chiller dilemma

Unfortunately, my garage is the opposite of Vincent's...hotter than outside. Fans alone have been able to keep water temps from rising above 83. With the chiller plumbed today, I have been able to keep a constant of 81. I am lucky I do Bikram "Hot" Yoga, so my body is used to 90 to 100 garage...

    Chiller dilemma

Go for it! Funny, I had the chaeto Rx in mind last week. I converted an old Elos Calcium Rx and mounted grow LEDs strips delivered from Amazon yesterday. Then your post inspired me to plumb one of my unused chillers after my DIY Rx. Running at 81 right now with 106 outside. Hopefully, the...

    Chiller dilemma

it already leaked at the chiller valves (not well designed by Teco) but I simplified the valve with some permanent adhesives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Chiller dilemma

I just plumbed a DIY cheato reactor to one of my return pumps. I guess I can always just plumb my chiller after and next to the reactor. I think I will try it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Chiller dilemma

Have the same dilemma - tanks in garage, chiller (actually have 2 that came with complete tear downs I purchased) unplumbed, and 100+ out here in Livermore plus radiant heat from my wife's car at night. I am running a fan over the water and another one to blow heated air out a garage door vent...

    DBTC - Red Table

Just moved my SPS into an SPS-only tank (cycled for 1 month and then plumbed to my main system). SPS frags (Green Slimer, Sunset Monti, etc) from Prez Mike doing well, and I need some red. I'd like to get in line also for a frag.
