    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

The gramma died, so I'm fishless now. Tank temperature is 79.7F, and salinity is 1.027, even though I do have the ATO hooked up. I added a little RO water to get it down to 1.026. The water looks clear, except there is some algae scum on the surface. I am having some algae that might be...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Well, my tank appears to be crashing. Everything looked normal this morning, and my fish ate around noon, and I fed the corals. Then the fish started panting and lying around. I tested ammonia at 0 and pH same as before (8.2). I went to the store to pick up some water and carbon, and the...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Good to know about the carbon, I had no idea it got used up so fast. I'm still measuring 0ppm nitrates and phosphate today so I increased the dosing for now. I will also keep the mirror trick in mind for fish aggression, especially when adding the clowns. So I know I said I had a plan for...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Yep, there's a chamber where I can throw in some carbon! I hadn't realized that it shouldn't be run 24/7. Is that still the case even when you have leather corals? I'm getting to the exciting part of stocking the tank, and I've been researching fish, but I have very little feel for how many...

    Algae Identification and Solution?

That's great! I only did one dose and it hasn't come back at all yet, and I didn't want to dose again if not necessary, but that's just me. (I had a pretty bad infestation) Hopefully yours are wiped out too.

    Derek's 225g - Magnifica / SPS Reef

Thanks for sharing your Reefi settings! I'm wanting to play around with mine and get something closer to a more daylight look, but I'm afraid of angering my corals. Maybe I will try something like that.

    Eric's RSR 300xl build.

Whoa I'm glad you didn't have any losses! As soon as I read that I went and duct taped my temp probe to the back of my tank, hadn't even thought of that before.

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Thanks for the feedback, all! I'll give my skimmer some time. Also I forgot to mention that I had to remove the filter media column that came with the tank to fit the skimmer in, but it's probably worth it? Thank you! It's currently set up so that it's tightly fastened in place well above...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

I set up my protein skimmer and ATO last night. I didn't have either of these on my old BioCube setup, so it was a bit of a learning experience. Tunze Osmolator Nano 3152 Auto Top Off Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9001 Both of them seem to be running okay, but I had a question about the...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Nice to meet you as well! I'm going to have to say no, only because I already have a much longer list of fish I want than I think will actually fit in this tank, hahaha. Thanks though!

    BlueSallymander's 16 gallon cube

It's a IM 40 gallon, so it's a lot more cube-like than a 40 gallon breeder. I have one of those for freshwater fish, though :)

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

Corals! I forgot about the corals. I am trying to keep a mix of softies and LPS corals in this tank. I moved over some assorted mushrooms, a Nepthea tree, a weeping willow toadstool, a Gorgonian, a finger leather, some very sad fireworks clove polyps, a favia, and a candy cane coral. All are...

    BlueSallymandr's 40 gallon AIO tank

I’m starting a tank journal for my new 40 gallon tank, which is an upgrade from my 16 gallon BioCube that got me into the hobby. Thank you so much to the club members who helped me pick out equipment for this setup earlier! Current equipment: IM 40 gallon AIO tank Reefi Uno Pro 2.1 light with...

    BlueSallymander's 16 gallon cube

This tank was taken down while upgrading to a 40 gallon tank, and I moved over all the contents.

    10/19 Frag Swap Volunteer Thread

Hi, I'm super sorry but I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it tomorrow. I had to evacuate because of a fire today and I'm not sure when I'm returning home.

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

Hahaha, I was like, "but surely they fixed the seam thing for G2..." Don't worry, I ordered an IM

MEMBERS ONLY Frag Swap - October 19th in the South Bay (PLEASE RSVP)

Total newbie question - should we bring heat packs/coolers for the corals or are they fine at room temp? I want to stay to help break down or do whatever's needed but I honestly have no idea how long a frag can survive at room temp.

For those interested in buying G2 Red Sea tanks

This is good information for new reefers, I was seriously considering buying a G2 Red Sea tank until some of y'all talked me down from it :D

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

I, too, would be interested in one a few weeks down the road. I'm working on setting up a 40 gallon that I bet would be nice for one.
