RODI System Recommendations and Considerations (and which ones not to buy)

SF and surrounding areas have low TDS because the majority of the water is from surface water treatment. That's my understanding anyway. I'm genuinely curious why your cation is getting used up so quickly.

RODI System Recommendations and Considerations (and which ones not to buy)

Do you find similar requirements for all your client's systems? You have a large service area I am assuming, so water purveyors would be different. Who is your water company. I'm curious to read their WQ reports.

RODI System Recommendations and Considerations (and which ones not to buy)

Very interesting. From most conversations I have had with folks, it's the anion they are going through more frequently. What is your source water? Surface treatment? Do you know the composition of it?

Featured Ultra Coral Submissions for 6/22 Frag Swap

Blastomussa merletti but likely not an ultra. There are some merletti variants I would consider ultras, but this one would not be one IMO. I think this should be an ultra. 3 color variant. Beautiful bower!

RODI System Recommendations and Considerations (and which ones not to buy)

I preface this response entirely on that it depends completely on your source water profile. My experience is mainly coming from treated groundwater via municipal water company. Average 350-420 TDS coming into my house. Also, sorry for the long response. I am starting to believe that most of...

    Free Tigger Pods -Monterey CA

I was lucky enough to get special sieve kit when I bought my phyto culture kit. But you could easily use something like the inexpensive brine shrimp sieve/nets.

    Free Tigger Pods -Monterey CA

Not the best pic... put in some biomedia a I had cooking in my qt/observation tank. I put it in a couple days after I set up the bucket. I think I've had some die off, but still plenty alive. So I think the population will recover. The phyto has definitely multiplied.

Mine are doing good! I put mine in a bucket outside. Gets morning sun and then shade the rest of the day. I put in some live phyto from @Coral Hub (Nathan) on the first day. It appears to be growing in there too. I haven't touched it since last week. I'll try to remember to get a pic tomorrow.

    Tang Compatibility

Yeah... I feel as a newbie sometimes it can be difficult to actually know the right and wrong. And I have seen some folks getting blasted by long time keepers for their ignorance, versus taking it as an opportunity for education. I caught myself doing that a couple times in the reptile hobby and...

Thanks for sharing this. How do you see yourself and your livestock in regard to ethical husbandry? Great article and thanks @Thales The ethics of the pet "trade" is a difficult beast to tackle or discuss. Yup. I agree with that as well. I couldn't imagine a group of same species of tangs...

    Lanthanum dosing, check my math…

Very good point! The bottles I got of the TM Elimi-Phos will likely last me a year or longer if I used them in a diluted form, dosed into the skimmer as has been mentioned. Also, many companies are not above simply rebranding the exact same product with consumers not knowing any different and...

    Tang Compatibility

Oh for sure. I agree that in general any of our tanks are way too small. I meant more like, can they be content. Can they feel secure and enjoy their existence. I know neither of us can say yes or no to that question. Some folks are only content traveling the world and every crevice of every...

Sorry guys. I got pulled away throughout the day and couldn't organize my thoughts. Can I just mention also that it is really annoying not being able to do multi-quote on this forum. Sorry for the out of order responses... I can definitely side with that argument. I've seen videos and articles...

    Tang Compatibility

And when it works with multiple species from the same genus? Can they get along and thrive? Or do they eventually just try and kill each other? So I hear what you guys are saying but there is visual proof out there that goes against your philosophy.

    Tang Compatibility

Definitely do not see that in lots of tanks I see online. Even here. Multiple yellow tangs for example. So it's hard for me to accept that just one of each is the "norm". Or is that just best practice generally speaking?

    Lanthanum dosing, check my math…

Except the SeaKlear is a concentrated version and is to be diluted. The TM version can be diluted as well if suppose but not necessary. That's my understanding of it anyway.

    Tang Compatibility

Does anyone know where there is an easy to reference tang compatibility chart or app? A great book for reference would be fantastic too. I'd like both honestly. I would like to slowly build my reefing library. I know this is easy for the fish vets in our group. But I'm still so ignorant with sw...
