Have you considered getting more organisms that produce O2 (aka getting more corals)? I wonder if having too much water volume relative to the amount of corals has that much of an effect on pH? Good excuse for the next CFM for an "experiment" :p

The algae scrubber may help reduce ugly phase/unwanted algaes, but it's not going to get rid of them completely, you definitely need more CUC/herbivores than you currently have to help. If you think they will starve, which I don't think they will since they haven't cleared the ugly stage you...

If you feed you corals try feeding Benepets, that actually lowers phosphate for me. Edit: But only like .01-.03 usually.

Snails should take care of the smaller stuff like diatoms and film algaes. The tangs should take care of the bigger stuff. Snails can absolutely harbor bad stuff (ich, aptasia, unwanted algaes, etc.), but most people don't QT their inverts. Support your local LFS if you can and QT if you...
