    What is this?

Putting this out to the collective BAR hive mind for input. I just picked up some of these gorgeous little green anemones that I’d never seen before, but as I was getting ready to add them to my tank, it occurred to me they look kind of like a majanos. I’ve seen standard plain majanos, but I’ve...

    Fire shrimp or cleaner shrimp

I've had both, they will take food from LPS, but that's about as bad as I've seen either do. I love fire shrimp - if you have 2, they will be a lot more bold and fun to watch.

    What are these tubes?

Pretty sure those are “runners” from the cloves. They’ll find a surface, grown onto it and, and then the polyps will grow out of it. One of the reasons IME that they can be tough to contain, those runners can bridge a decent gap.

    DJ strips

I’ve got a used pair of these that i don’t need. They’re a little rusty from being mounted inside a stand, but I think all of the switches work. Free to supporting members who will pick them up and use them.

    Possible Flatworm

I’ve had flatworms in my tank for years. Flatworm exit does a good job of killing adults, but there are always more. If you have a coral qt, you may be able to run it at a higher level, and run multiple rounds. Never tried it though. At this point, I have a couple of wrasses that keep them in...

    Original Steinhart Building

Ended up settling on chemistry in school, and have spent my working life in front of mass spectrometers as an analytical chemist. Mix of working at biotech companies and an instrument manufacturer.

    Original Steinhart Building

One of my absolute favorite places to visit when I was a kid, and probably a major contributor to my ending up a scientist.

    Michael's 35 gallon aio

I found an old credit card works really well for this and is pretty quick, you just need to be able to get your hand in between the acrylic and rock work.

    4 xl discus

I would keep discus far away from oscars. It’s been a while, but I’ve had both (not together) and would not even try it.

New Nem + Clown tank: Guidance

My responses, your mileage may vary. - The smallest I’ve had clowns and nems long term was a 35 gal, but did have a large nem covered rock with clowns happily in a 20 g temporary tank for a couple of months. Most people would probably not recommend something that small, but I feel I could have...

    Free filefish

Looks a lot like one of these to me. If I still had my ‘nem and foul tasting softy tank setup, I’d take him.

Fish found in sump that I've never seen before

I’d feed it as often as practical and let it grow until you figure out what it is. Pretty cool find.

    mixing damselfish (Chrysiptera Parasema)

IME, chrysiptera damsels mix well with some of the common dottybacks (I've kept them with orchids and springers) and with 6 line wrasses (would imagine other Pseudocheilinus would be fine too) and pygmy angels. Also think some of the tougher clowns like maroons or tomatoes. My opinion is there...

Wet Skimming after Epoxy or Red Slime remover

It's been a little while since I've run chemiclean, but when I did, I just removed my skimmer cup and let the froth go right back into my sump (put a deli cup over the open top of your skimmer to keep it from making a mess). The reason being, if whatever is causing the froth is an active...

    Suggestions for calcium reactor

Maybe I'm not understanding, but if this media takes a lower pH to dissolve, couldn't you just slow rate of the feed pump, but keep the CO2 delivery the same? Effluent would have a lower pH, but would be coming out at a slower rate - same amount of CO2 in should have the same net pH effect on...
