Small RBTA available through DBTC. About 3 inches, and is currently attached to the glass wall (I plan to move the powerhead and clean it!). Pickup in downtown Oakland.

Another reason found for coral die-off

That is a disturbing finding. Fortunately, the study caused Key West to change its sewage treatment system. Thanks for sharing the article.

    Anyone have any Otohime pellets?

I have a small sample size of the otohime pellets, and my fish love them. I will try to remember to put some into a small ziplock bag to bring to the swap tomorrow for you. Have you tried frozen baby brine shrimp?

    Rudy's 60G shallow reef tank

Although your questions are directed to Mark, I think it would be easier to just replace the bulkhead, scrape away the old silicone, and put the new one on with the tightening part on the outside of the tank, gluing on new elbows.

    Rudy's 60G shallow reef tank

Rudy, your new system looks great. I'm no plumber, but in the bulkhead photos, it looks like the bulkhead is installed backwards. Usually, the smooth side goes inside the tank and the part that can be tightened with a wrench goes outside the tank.

    yaradartist's 36g

Richard, your tank looks great! Especially without all the caulerpa. Sounds like the perfect dimensions now. I can return your orange fungia and your lobo ... they've been doing fine in the big tank, and it looks like there's room in your tank for them again. In the last photo, is the rock...

    Flesh eating bacteria in fishtanks

Those shoulder-length nitrile gloves look like a good idea. I used to have the orange/purple Coralife gloves, and it was extremely difficult to pick up anything other than a big rock... the fingers don't move much.

    Bonaire SCUBA pictures

Great photos Justin! It is cool to see the giant favia in their natural environment. When we were in Bonaire in April, the naturalist boat captain mentioned problems with the lavender tube sponges. Some of them have recently begun developing coatings of purple (not cyanobacteria) that cause...

Million Gallon Monterey Bay Aquarium Tank to Re-open

http://www.mercurynews.com/science/ci_18364265 Cleaning the fish tank is never fun. Ask any tropical fish hobbyist with a pair of angelfish, some gravel and a few plastic plants. But what if the tank is 35 feet deep and has a window the size of a drive-in movie screen? In what may...

    Dealing with a Evil Clown

My clarkii clown was very peaceful until I tried to target feed my new amenone with pieces of frozen shrimp (stupidly using my fingers instead of tongs). After that, she often swam toward my hand when my fingers entered the tank, nipping on them to see if they held shrimp. Fortunately, she...

    Auto Feeders

Like Tony, I have the Eheim auto feeder. I really like it. It has a sliding door that allows control of the portion size. I have it set to feed twice a day; programming was very easy. The only issue is that my fish sometimes aren't fast enough to consume all the NLS pellets before they end...

    Killer Whales in Monterey Bay--Breakwater

For all the divers in the club, check out this video from Wednesday. Orcas cruising at the breakwater in Monterey! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMTsD4a2c_0 And here's a clip from a Monterey whale watching boat on Friday (not winning any cinematography awards)...

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

I regretted putting sand into my acrylic tank. Really difficult to keep the lower part of the acrylic clear of algae without accidentally getting a grain or two of sand embedded in the magnetic cleaner and adding new scratches to the viewing surfaces. And my tank is only 5' by 2' by 2'.
