    Maureen's Classroom DSA 105

You are all so kind and supportive and I appreciate it. My schedule got all changed up this week so I need to go do some tank work today (happily, until I spill water everywhere heh heh). I will post current photos like @Alexander1312 suggested to document the positive changes to come. But first...

    Mag 3/5 Air Fractionating Impellers

I was hoping they were a pond thing bc I don't see how they work for the pump.

Do You Use a Mag Float 500?

OOOh - you like to live dangerously!

Do You Use a Mag Float 500?

Anybody use the extra large Mag Float that is ~2.5" x 6"? If so, PM me.

    Mag 3/5 Air Fractionating Impellers

Anybody have a use for these? I got two by mistake at some point. For Danner/Pondmaster Mag Drive 3 & 5 pumps. Note they are not normal impellers. In Pleasant Hill or I can bring to swap.

    Maureen's Classroom DSA 105

Today was a huge day for me. I feel that classroom tanks are on the mend and felt a positive attitude that has gone missing for a long time - as indicated by my lack of tank journal updates and club participation. Tanks and teaching have been very rough since Covid closure, which spilled over...

    1 in slipxslip Gate Valve

Pretty sure Grainger still carries Spears. Also, there are irrigation supply houses in the East Bay, probably all over the Bay Area, which I would try.

    Dealing with lyngbya

Fuzzy chiton is cool! It arrives in half a clam shell, which we wedged between rocks. The chiton climbs out and every day or two it is back nested in its half shell. It used to have great algae camouflage on its back but snails nibble it off.

Ended up unloading all the pellets in avast into tank now what

This post (maybe others have posted the same method) has CHANGED my tank maintenance life. I knew people filtered junk out of water thru socks instead of endless water changes, but I did neither and got tanks too full of old detritus bc of the PITA felt socks. Plastic mesh takes 20 seconds to...

    Pretty neat product -powdered water

Not any salt I know off the top of my head. Of all the liquefacient salts I know, some could be tank water additives but can't replace NaCl. Let's see what the chemists in the group have to say...

    Pretty neat product -powdered water

It's a semester-long elective class for 7th-8th graders. I made it up and lobbied my district hard for it. Kids have no idea it is an entire second science class with no homework or tests but just tons of sciencey activities, heh heh. Super fun, depending on the class composition. We are in the...

    Pretty neat product -powdered water

Got the email and thought it would be funny to my little marine science class. Not a soul got the joke. So we did a little claim-evidence-reasoning exercise. A few kids got the joke, as I could see on their faces. Others - nope. Two camps argued that "hydro" means water so it must be better than...

Volunteer thread for 4/26 frag swap!

I have not attended in a long time, but I have helped with registration in the past and/or could do cleanup/setup as needed.

Is there an extension cable for Kessil AP9X?

I was looking into extensions awhile back and found a couple links in my otherwise incoherent notes... I don't think this is what you are looking for: Kessil light extension cable Maybe this power brick extension but not sure about the connectors since I have no lights at home...

    Is this damages from nudibranch?

Have you inspected the montis after lights are off? I lost a battle with MENs back in 2018. I only found them bc I had turned lights off for a few days to try to get a handle on some cyano or something. I had never seen that tank in the dark before, which might be why I didn’t know they were in...

PIF - Manila spy frags [Walnut Creek]

Thank you for the frags. Wow, what a beautiful tank you have there. I really enjoyed seeing the full colonies, corals moving with the flow, inverts, and active fish including clowns tending to their eggs. I wonder which of the groups of students tending to our tanks this week will notice the new...

    Planted 40g Waterbox Eden

Wow, you made an awesome box of biodiversity there - very cool. It must be fun to sit back and look at the motion with all the different shapes and textures in your jungle.

Welcome to Gran Playa Del Mar

Looks great! So many hideouts in the rockwork - nice. Fish look happy. Haha - I see your urchin likes to pick up things to disguise itself. As you add more corals we will see what it prefers.

    9 footer disaster

Look and feel everywhere for salt or water from a leak. So many possible sources. Could it even be from somewhere other than the sump?
