How to properly set up a stock tank?

It needs an appropriately sized heater and a way to move water to mix with oxygen, with some live rock for filtration ready to go. Wavemaker or pump works fine. A light is a nice to have, as is a screen. An ato will save you some time but you can make a mark on the outside of the tank and...

Hello! Just moved from Toronto to SF

Next BAR talk, how to catch the fish yourself by @PjFish One thought I had on the NSA style is that it might not give fish enough hides to come out and feel comfortable. To help with that you could add some fist sized rocks in a pretty pile or two to give the fish a place to hide when they...

How does a BAR Frag Swap Work?

Best to label ahead of time. There may be some labels, but don't count on it. Blue tape works in a pinch.

Tank Parameters all over the place

I have a Red Sea dosing pump that breaks my daily dose into a number of little doses throughout the day. I run the dosing line from a glass bottle into my skimmer neck running through a hole in the skimmer lid to keep it in place. The glass bottle is full of Phosban-L which I dilute down with...

Tank Parameters all over the place

What is all this freaking out over phosphate? It is not bad to be high and the numbers I am seeing are very reasonable. Thumb through my old journal from when I was in the bay and you will see some real phosphate, and a beautiful tank. Don't change rocks over phosphate. That is silly, put...

Are these baby fuzzy chitons? I don't know what else would be a mollusk with such an elongated foot. I added a bunch of these guys a while ago.

LF Xtra Large Macro Algae Plant for my Display Tank

IMO, you won't get one big enough that won't get eaten by the tang. Many people grow the algae in the sump and add it to the tank when they want to thin out the sump growth. Good luck none the less!

    Need identification of this worm

Pink/orange guy with spikes? Bristle worm. You will get them, they eat detritus. If you touch it, it will leave clear spikes in your finger. Use tape to pull the spikes out from your finger.

Quick ICP head to head results

That's why I started running cuprisorb in all my tanks, I (theoretically) get the visual indication from the bag if any metals get absorbed.

    Plunger wave device

He said the "fro" made it silent, I was thinking it needed damping and a spring somewhere partway through.
