Anyone had any hands on with the Red Sea controllers?

Def curious about it so tagging along. Even though the Red Sea tanks have a reputation, and I say reputation, for bustling-I have had had success with their other items such as the rollermat, ato, dosers.,

Hopefully their new product works well.

Agreed. And the price point is decent.

To be fair-I have no real issue with apex or with ReefBeat OS for that matter. Both have seemed to work well so far.

For me, issues at large is that some of the native apex devices though have been problematic -their ato sensors failing suddenly or their auto feeding just dumping a bunch of food out with its design. The apex DOS is a powerhouse for AWC but I find it challenging for micro doses (like .5-1 ml) a day where the Red Sea doser prevails.

What worked well was the mini fridge where the Red Sea plopped in whatever food and then the apex ran the pump. Always had to remember DST though on Red Sea every 6 months!

What are you fed up with and what do you want it to do?
Connectivity failures over and over. My needs for my apex are simple. I run two probes, tw3o heaters, and lights. Anything else is nice but not necessary. I've had too many pieces of Neptune gear fail over the years, but having it maintain a connection (or even connect at all without being hardwired ) is just too damn annoying.

Yeah. I ended up hardwiring mine. It’s very annoying. If you ever take it apart. They use a cheap dollar fifty dongle. It’s changeable. I’ve changed some out before but never looked for an upgrade.

How far is apex from your main WiFi station?
we have a mesh network with a hub right in the other room that works pretty well. Occasional outage but manageable.
I can’t remember if apex runs on 5 or 2.5 ghz or both..
