Don't dose Vibrant. If it really is diatoms ride it through. They'll disappear in no time. Don't rely on chemical quick fixes. Make sure your lighting, water movement, alk, and cal are stable first. Diatoms can also be a sign of too little light.

In all seriousness you'll probably have to supplement it since skimmate will just provide nitrate and phosphate. It's a plant so it needs other micro nutrients too. If you change water I would take out the water from the ogo tank, throw the water from the reef tank into the ogo tank, and then...

I'm in Concord and I echo John's nervousness about taking care of a tank. I'm about 15 min from John. Haven't been in the reef hobby for very long. Been taking care of planted aquariums since the 90's.
