1 TDS out of my 8 stage rodi

Is it just time to replace things? Tds coming in is 430ish. Here's what everything looks like now. Only getting 6-8 TDS after my ro.

Just had my three stand sensor lose stage two so that's new and they both read 1 TDS out of the end.

I'm running the pro resin, so it has the cation, anion, and then mixed bed. Possible sensor issue, but two of them are reading the same after years of the first reading correctly.

The booster pump auto flushes for one minute every hour.

Good thoughts, open to more. Thanks!

try a longer manual flush before you start producing, the auto flushes aren't typically long enough
The 1 TDS was after a long time of the filter running too. Very consistent, and only started recently when the second resin started getting close to half depleted, which is why I'm thinking of adding a second canister of the middle resin.

430 entering is around what I get in Livermore. Maybe time for new membranes? The center canister in the picture is only giving half as much travel time through that resin as the other half is spent.

Roughly how many gallons have you produced after adding new resins ? What do your pen tds meters read?
Maybe 300-500 gallons? I don't produce a huge amount with my non regular water change strategies. It has been slightly over a year.

Next thought was just replace everything not visually new because it's all pretty cheap. Some of the sellers online say replace everything yearly anyway.

What's odd to me is that the mixed bed resin at the end should be grabbing the last bit as it has had no color change. Exactly why I was thinking of using my last canister to double on on anion or cation, can never remember which one is second and always need to look it up, lol.

Glad to know we aren't way out of line with other muni systems in the 400's, i was always closer to 200 in Sunnyvale.

Thanks for the thoughts all!

Maybe wiggle/reposition/clean the sensors too. I've seen them fluctuate especially if they're not angled perpendicular to flow. Although they do look right from what I can see for the last two.

Notice any loss of pressure or waste water ratio increasing? I really don’t ever go off color changes just TDS & chlorine test strip readings.. Can try flipping the last two canisters but Id just change everything out and disinfect the system and call it a day.. I flush then run about 8-10 gallons through the system then put in the Di resin cartridge last then run a few more gallons then ready to roll my tds in tap run around 70-85.. I have heard those booster buddies should be flushing longer then they do not sure don’t use one just flush manually for 3-5 min before and after use. @ReyDeFarts is very experienced in this topic maybe he can chime in..

I do double check with two different Tds pens back to back regularly.. I trust those more then the two built into my system for some reason not sure why…

I go by taste lol but I also use my rodi as drinking water. It gets a slight metallic taste when it’s time to change out anion. It usually happens before the entire canister changes color so I assume the water needs more travel time and change it out.

Do u have a tap in line for drinking water before the di resin ?

I recall reading rodi water isn't good for us humans to drink. I think specific the di resin removes something we should have in our water.

@ReyDeFarts would know this I'm sure based on his job.

It removes minerals electrolytes like calcium and magnesium and others that our city adds (unless well water) not vitamins but without certain minerals the body may mot absorb vitamins..But mineral & vitamin levels are determined mainly by what we eat or supplements not water. The DI resins contain chemicals and dyes that are not food grade especially the color changing stuff but they ban additives in our food yearly that weve been consumin .. I think the bigger risk maybe harmful bacteria growing downstream from the RO filters if not sterilized routinely or boiled first before drinking..My outdoor shrubs/ trees don’t seem to mind rodi but the indoor ones definitely go downhill unless you add dissolved plant food..
