Plumbing is too hard. I have no clue if I answer your question but the grey union attached to the pump states 1 inch. I assume the blue pipe is smaller than 1 inch? Its super hard to tell from pics but that looks like 3/4 mpt on that pump. It looks like it's the same as your current return line. If you look right above the union your current pump is attached to that looks like a 3/4 to 1 bushing.
Does the threaded part on your new pump match the size of the pipe pictured?

That's great. Last question - where do I buy this? The place I never go to, Home Depot or Lowes? You need a 3/4 slip x 3/4 barb fitting and a 3/4 female x 3/4 barb fitting. Cut the blue pipe where I circled above. Glue the slip fitting. Put the other fitting on the pump and the use silicone or vinyl tubing of 3/4 i.d. to connect the two.
I need to drop off a stock tank to @JVU in the near future. Want me to swing by and help you out? Should take all of 10 min. That's great. Last question - where do I buy this? The place I never go to, Home Depot or Lowes?
Oh, and how to cut and glue with what?
That would be fantastic, thank you. But please know that John and I live quite a bit away from each other, so this might not be convenient for you. I will review your instructions again and maybe I will be able to do it before you make it up here.I need to drop off a stock tank to @JVU in the near future. Want me to swing by and help you out? Typical Ace Hardware stores are independently owned and many times also locally owned. That's great. Last question - where do I buy this? The place I never go to, Home Depot or Lowes?
They eat everything, not just aptasia.Ok, so these peppermint shrimp I got from @under_water_ninja yesterday are insane. The rock I had mentioned below got moved into the nano tank a few days ago. As of yesterday evening, there were three larger pieces of aiptasia on it.

As of this afternoon (<24 hours after adding two shrimps) they are no longer visible at all, even after checking for the past several hours. I recognize they could have just been retracted but the areas where they were has several empty spaces, so my hope is they ate most of it. It might come back but the immediate impact is beyond impressive.
How should they be kept alive if there is no more aiptasisa for them to eat?

I am glad I do not have any. They prefer the taste of high-end acropora polyps.
so is the issue that once fed they will not be going back to aiptasia, or only while being fed? They're garbage cans and will eat any leftover foods (pellets, flakes, frozen)
But they're less effective on aiptasia when fed.
