Anyone using an air-driven skimmer?

I'm thinking of making one using air stones (or wood) and a Luft pump. What's your impression?

I LOVE air driven skimmers, that is of course if you are willing to source out and change the diffusers (not really "air stones" since there's no stone involved).

WOW,talking about old school,i remenber i use them back in the early 90.using limestone wood in the old berlin skimmer.:)

Yup, they're pretty great. I haven't seen any pump driven micro skimmer that even comes close to a counter current air driven. Good reminder that I have to build the coke bottle skimmer for the Dudley tank at work.

If you do that, try using the Crystal Geyser or Calistoga mineral water bottles ;)

Yeah, it'll prob require a trip to bevmo to secure just the right riser cone.
