Not sure, i tried 2 pj cardinals one killed other, i never even considered it with the banghi, still have the other pj murderer as well
 
I’m honestly down. It would take some work but I’m sure it’s doable especially with @gmdcdvm guidance.

It’d be my first captive bred fish.

I was thinking of buying a gmdcdvm-ling to try but an old female probably works better and would take less time

Agreed. I purchased four captive bred fish that were probably 4 months old. They did not breed until they were over a year of age. Working with adults would be quicker. As to what got them to breed I don't know, but I would be more than happy to share my limited knowledge on this subject.

Well make a game plan for if you succeed and we can figure out when i Can get fish to you. So we can plan for and get whats needed for babies.

I thought so myself on some of them. In that case is a open offer still if you are interested? It's the current unquestioned tank boss now, with a 6 line and two golden nugget maroons. I'm really only attached to my 2 pairs of maroon clowns. And one less big fish in my main tank would let me feed less and control P04 bettter for the sps.

Interested, but not sure when I will be in your area. I am coming from Concord/Clayton area. Maybe Tribitt is interested? If not, we'll see when I can make it out your way sometime.

All good it’s not going anywhere. It's been a aggressive fish since i pulled out my larger maroons i think if he's indeed a male he'd be very likely to kill another @tribbitt. So you would wanna be highly confident on a id of yours and mines gender.
 
They are the "small fry" in my tank. They tend to hide from the bigger fish and leave the smaller fish along. Thankfully, haven't seen any aggression to any non-bangai fish.
 
Week 8 update:
Fish are all alive and doing well. Time to upgrade their tank size. Going to do a 20g long. Don’t know if I can start the HOB filter yet for better circulation and filtration. I don’t know if they are strong enough to avoid getting sucks up onto the intake grill. Going to keep using the sponge filter and air pump for now.
On the bright side I finally saw a few of them try to eat the arti pods this week. Their primary diet still remains newly hatched brine shrimp and frozen pods. If I could keep the shirmp alive and get them a little bigger I think that would help wean them into larger food.

Yes, I just don't have the time to get a culture going or to maintain them, and buying them would be cost prohibitive. They can go through a bottle of pods in 1-3 days depending on their size. Knock on wood I don't see any growth defects yet.
When I say frozen pods, this is the product I am using: https://www.algaebarn.com/shop/aquarium-supplies/foods/canned/pod-pate/. I purchased 4 cans. So far, I am stilling using the first one and despite 8 weeks I still have a lot left. I essentially froze the content of one can in a plastic bag that I laid out flat prior to freezing. Now, I just break off a small piece and feed it along with the brine shrimp. I would have to look back at this post, but I think I started that between week 1 and 2 when it arrived in the mail. These are about the same size as baby brine shrimp, and it helps that they get movement from the water current. Took maybe 2 to 3 days before they started eating these reliably along with the shrimp.

Side note: seems like the all the fish in the 180g like these tiny things too. Even the large angels, tangs, and foxface go crazy. Based on how small these are I do not think it is worth the effort, but what do I know. I am not a fish.

I supplement the brine shrimp with selcon and I add a couple of drops of vitachem to the shrimp 10-15 minutes before feeding to hopefully coat them a little on the outside.

I have that 20g long tank, lid, heater, flow pump, air pump, sponge filters, etc sitting around taking up space if you want to borrow.

Growing phyto and pods is a little more time and space than brine shrimp, and when you aren’t planning to do this ahead you’re totally scrambling which I get.
Other people are considering trying this out, and in that case I would really go with phyto and pods. The frozen pods sound cool in addition. I hadn’t heard of those before. Good info, and nice work so far.

I wish I could grow these out. But don’t have the time and my wife would kill me if I set up any more fish stuff.
 
Week 9 update:
Well this will be a quick one since not much has been going on. I am finally starting to see some fish reliably eat some of the large offerings. Overall, liver brine is still the hot ticket. From what I have read this is about the age where they start transitioning to large food items and start eating non-live things more readily. We'll see how it goes...
