Cactus Algae (Halimeda)

This is a very interesting macro algae that actually builds a calcium carbonate skeleton. Its bright green color and unique shape make for a lovely decorative plant, though it's not the best choice for nutrient export. It's heavier than water and will root in the gravel.

One word of warning: it sucks down a lot of calcium and alkalinity. Make sure you keep it pruned or supplement accordingly.

It's a green banded goby. I love those little guys.

put it in a little container and let it die out and dry... you can crush it up into sand

I used to have some growing on live rock, but one of my critters ate it. If you still have some, I'll give it a go. I'll put it in a soft coral tank where calcium is not as critical. I think it is pretty.
