Do fish need variety in their food? Or can I just feed frozen mysis only?

I'm looking for a "whole" food, like mysis that I can feed my fish and won't instantly become "excess nutrients" like flak food seems to become.

That is to say a food that, if not eaten by the fish will not decay before some scavenger can snap it up.

I've been using Mysis that has been thawed in RO and Zoe, but I wonder if the fish (clowns, mandarin, tang (yes, a herbavore), cardinal bangaii) need more than just one type of food?

Or can I do this and supplement with flake like once a week?

Are silversides anygood? They look huge.

I have been using mysis and spirulina brine, I clip seaweed for the herbivores.

Rod's foods have several different varieties for carni, herbi and I believe a reef all in one type. I have seen them at Ocean Treasures.

What kind of fish? In general Rod's mixes are a nice balance for everything but each type of fish needs slightly different food.

I feed a little of everything.

I try to get most of the fish onto a dry food diet in case I'm on vacation and someone else is watching the tank

Mysis are freshwater critters, so no omega 3's, it's good to mix something in there with fatty acids like Arcti Pods. Plus it's just good to mix stuff up in general.

Actually some other the mysids (like PE) do in fact have Omega-3's according to their promotional material :)

I use a multitude of feeds and I can get all the RN I want free :) I like to change it up, ON Formula 1&2 flakes, Sera granular(sp?), Otohime (pellet) and RN foods make my staple though :)

OK, so how OFTEN do you guys feed? I've been doing once per day. Some LFS guys said he feeds once every 3 days!
I really can't tell how often they NEED to feed. I can tell that they LIKE to feed ALOT!

Depends upon the fish, some fish need multiple feedings *IF* they can't forage in your tank. I feed Ocean Nutrition flakes once a day and that's it however.

NO, I am paid to be on the forums Robert. I put 60 hours in a week on top of being on the forums as well. Joking about how hard I work is not cool and I urge you to never do it again. I live this and have for over 10 years. I don't have another job like you do, this is it :p

I hope I didn't offended you, Gresham. I am not here to question your working ethics. That's was not my intention. I know you work hard on and off the forum.

I myself work hard too and I hope you don't think that just because I have another job that I don't take my shop seriously as a business. I have put a lot of sweat and effort into bringing my shop to where's it's at today and the reason its working is becuase I have another job to support it. I think in this day and age, everyone is probably working just as hard as we both do but I don't see why we can't put on a smile once in a while while sharing our burden.

Again, I am sorry if I have offended you.

Robert
