Hiding the tank so the significant other doesn't complain about the uglies phase?

First year I went through outbreaks of three different types of dinos, cyano, and chrysophytes. I got a lot of "why does your tank look so gross and ugly?"

I thought so . Still, I am not a fan of blackouts. They are not effective for dinos in many cases and you do not need to do them for cyanos. Its one of these things folks do because they have been done for 20 years or so and work sometimes and sometimes not, vs fixing the underlying issues.

For the species of dinos that I have the blackout will force them into the water column so the uv can be more effective. 3 day blackouts have worked wonders for me in the past. It's a lot better than adding chemicals to "fix" the issue.

You already stepped up your UV game, so that is covered. But are you running enough activated carbon given how toxic this type is?

I did a two and a half day blackout and added a new structure from @Coral reefer. I've had the rocks cooking for a couple weeks. I'm happy with it.

I have a lump of birdsnest and some other thing you can put in there to fill space until you find other stuff you like, if you want it

Ive printed a bunch of xr30 and xr15 shades for other members but I haven't made myself a set. In 15 hours I should have them all done!!!

Right now just the center xr30 is shaded. I like the look.

Was just about to go to bed when I looked into my cabinet to check the skimmer cup when I noticed about an 1/8th inch of water down there. Crap... Earlier today I noticed my carx return was laying on top of my sump. I thought I had just knocked it and it was only like that for a few seconds. It must of been there much longer. We'll im hoping it was that. Otherwise my sump is leaking. I shop vacced it all out and I've got fans doing the rest right now. I'll check in the morning, hopefully it's all dry.

It was definitely the carx dumping into my cabinet. Everything is bone dry right now.

I have both the old and new style neptune leak sensors. Just not hooked up.

Two days ago my heater sensor alerted me before bed. I assumed it was cause I had the room heater off. I remotely turned it on and went to sleep.

I woke up in the morning to my wife telling me my aquarium in the office was beeping. I went in and my return line had came loose and my pump was geysering. Luckily it's in the office with tile flooring and basically a garage.

I have 3 smart home leak sensors in there. All sitting in the drawer in a cabinet not set up.

I assume neither of our tanks will spray again if we attach our sensors properly. I assume both will do it tonight if we don't...
