Cali Kid Corals

German charged with smuggling coral through Oregon - 40 tons of coral

even if they were donated to local aquariums they'd probably die. i haven't been to an aquarium where they could afford to provide ideal conditions for sps. but maybe i haven't been to enough

IT IS CALCIUM REACTOR MEDIA....READ MY LIPS :) IT":S NOT CORAL AND YES I AM SHOUTING :)

It's not LIVE coral folks and this is not the first time. The government is not playing fair on this game and you are getting hyped up by a court case you don't undersatnd or have the full info on. Google it harder, but stop calling it live coral :p

ah ok.. the article says Coral.. It's not like they take picture of it.. We can only tell based on what they say. If you are right, they must be really stupid not to be able to tell live coral from dead coral..

Phong, I think they know that the coral is not alive. However it seems like they are getting this guy on a technicality.

NO, it's classified (as all live rock, dead "live" rock = scleratinia) as coral. That is how CITES classifies it, as well as USF&WS. It's the reader of the document who needs to be informed of what is called what ;) After all, ignorance of the law is illegal :)

Google somethign you don't understand but don't play into the hype. Think about it, 40 tons of live corals? Do you know how many boxes that is? More then the US brings in for several weeks :) That would fill an airliner, if not more then one.

They actually list the species, are you saying they were 40 tons of dead coral.... that's lame.

Yup, the ID'd the skeleton. After all, proper coral ID is done by the skeleton.

They know it's dead. Read my post about what live rock/dead rock is classified as. (scleratinia)

The USF&WS know live coral from dead coral folks. So does US Customs. They don't make cases like this all willy nilly like.

Yup :) Exactly the same. FWIW it was Pacific Coast Imports in this side.
