Still not to late to go LED.
Very thin lighter fixtures, so easy to slide or raise. A lot less heat trapped up in there.

And as a huge bonus, an excuse to delay putting water in. J)
I have been waiting over a month now just to get parts in.

Mark,

I'd have to sell all my reflectors and ballasts + the Aqua Illumination LED w/controllers would be the route I would go, but that is some pricey stuff. :O

One side benefit to going LED would be you would surely ad 100 plus more posts to your thread talking about it. :D

I want some one with an EMF meter to test out a LIFI (plasma). I want to prove or disprove the rumors I have been told by some people that should know this stuff.

Wonder if anyone near Jestersix has a meter and can roll by his place? Anyone know of any ghost hunters??? ??? They always have those meters on hand :D

Just be sure to wrap your head in aluminum foil while doing those tests. Better to be on the safe side.
:)

I am actually a bit curious as to the leakage myself.
My guess : Like microwave ovens, shielding is normally fine, but defective ones will leak a bit.
But the cancer risks from microwaves are way overblown. More of an issue is disrupting your home wireless network.

Hey, found something cool:
Panasonic has a new LIFI (plasma) powered TV coming out: PT50LCZ70
Touting long life span and quick start.

Beyond the other issues above, that may give Aquarium Plasma lighting a huge boost!
Once the components hit serious volume in other applications, it will trickle down to us.

Ha..Ha..I should have "reworded" that...How do you like the radium's after the burn in period ? CookieJar mentioned it wasn't as blue after they burned in. Is there a good time to checkout the tank ?

It's not too blue. But I don't have much to compare it too except my T5's. I've never seen 10k or 14k in person so can't compare to them. Saturdays in the morning usually work best (except this Sat. won't work). I just have to make sure to clean up my son's mess before you come over. MLK day will work too. Just PM me if you wanna stop by.

geez....so boring...Jim, you know the next SF Tank Tour I am going to do will have a condition....must have running live reef tank to join. : )

Arnold,

I know it's not what everyone wants to see...but hopefully this will do. :p

Looks like your small tank is thriving, Jim! That anemone is ready to move to the giant tank. Have you ever had a problem with it getting too close to your Vortech?

Did someone say plasma? So far, I think they are fine, all my hair fell out and my beagle has grown a third eye...but what a ton of light and my Millis have great PE! Besides, I don't want to have any more kids... ;)

Doing my part to keep this thread long and water free...

Eh, fill it with tap water and buy some plastic fish kid toys.

Suggestion:
Start on the concrete / rock-work pretty soon, and get it soaking in the main tank.
For me, it was a good excuse to have the pumps and everything cranking for a month or so,
and debug the various problems I did not anticipate.
Plus, having water in the tank gets all these negative riffraff types off your back. :)
Yes, you have to drain it for a bit once you get all the light components in to work on, but
it is only tap water.

He's mentioned just why he doesn't have water in the tank yet.... IIRC it had to do with getting the lighting done first ;)
