Neptune Aquatics

Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

The concrete was for Camper + Boat parking on the side yard.
(Just a truck-camper and a home built catamaran, not some million dollar class-A)
But still takes a lot of space. Roughly 60' x 10', plus retaining wall.
Probably calculated weight wrong, it was only 1 truck load.

---

All but one of the frags are doing great. Very happy with them, nice addition. Many thanks.
But the small head on the torch coral turned pale pretty much immediately.
Tips are still alive though, and it seems to be feeding and improving. Crossing my fingers.
I have been gently feeding it directly to give it extra energy since most zooxanthellae are gone.
May or may not be a benefit. Plus like all direct feedings, my cleaner shrimp
have learned to follow the turkey baster and snatch the food off the corals.

Seems like a lot of people with big tanks end up doing tons of big projects around the house to hit the "wife acceptance factor".
Kitchen, 2 floors, and a bathroom... all for a 150g.

And I still have 1 1/2 floors and a bathroom to go, haha.

You sure some of that 'karma' is not for the car skeleton in your garage, rather than put it all on the tank?

LMK if you need another piece.

A-class not too bad $25K. Soft sail, one person.
C-class getting up there like $100K. Wing, 2 people.
AC class now who knows. Last AC cycle was $100M. Now that's a lot of concrete.

Oops, I switched from boats to motor homes in the same sentence.
Camper is a truck camper, as opposed to a huge A class motor-coach.
Boat is something you would have to see to believe. 25 years ago when it was built, it was a lot
like a Nacra 5.0, except a whole lot lighter. Perhaps an A class precursor. Too heavy for real A class though.
But the rig was replaced with dual 10 meter windsurfer sails. Really moves broad reaching in heavy wind.
Foils are in the brainstorming stage.

-- Sure glad we are derailing Jim's thread this badly, not mine. --

I believe Richard (Yardartist) got it half right refering to this build thread to The Twilight Zone...it's actually "The Eutrophic Zone." :p

This thread is pretty much a zone of its own.
Enough tidbits about an actual build often enough to keep it alive.
In progress long enough so everyone knows about it.
Random enough to have a little bit for everyone.
Pretty cool.

Mark,

That's pretty good...can I steal that from you ? :D

Well, first it was "We(you) should redo the kitchen. You can put your tank there." Then "Move(get rid of) your frag tanks so we(you) can redo the floors." And "We(you) should redo the bathroom next year." Somewhere in there was, "You should get the Cobra." 2 months later, I said "Were you serious about the Cobra??" So I can't complain :D

Sure.
But for what? You publishing it as a book now? :)

I got a chance to polish the lids and frag rack at Gen's. Who would have thought using a blow torch could be so fun ?

I hung the Maristar fixture & hooked up the lumatek ballasts. I need to change out the bulbs soon...I like the ushio 14k's and will probably go with aqua blue special and fiji purple for the T5's.

I hooked up the jbj heater w/controller (nice big led reading), dialed in the H&S A150 (it started making some nice foam within a few hours), & threw some live rock in the drain section to jump start the cycling. Anybody have any chaeto and graciella they can spare ?

Now I know why you didn't come over last weekend. If you came over I could have gave you a big wad of chaeto that I tossed in the rubbish bin. :p

John,
save me some the next go around.

Thanks,
