Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Bob Goemans and Lance Ichinotsubo turned me on to chloroquine phosphate as an alternative to cupramine. SFboarders (John) uses something similiar.

How do you like it John ?

I'll tell you my experience with hypo.
I got a healthy powder blue that was eating like a pig and was isolated from other fish for a month before I got it.
He had a few ich spots.
I then placed him into a QT tank and started dropping salinity to 1.009
He was in hypo for about 4 weeks and it didn't kill the ich.
I decided to raise salinity and administer copper.
He's coming on to his 4th week and I have not seen signs of ich since beginning of week 2.
Since my tank was recently put up, I went with the route to QT all fish to try not to introduce ich in the system.
All I have now are 2 clowns that were also QT for 4 weeks, but just in hypo.
I did also use Rid-Ich+ right before introducing them to QT tank and right before going into display.
Hopefully no ich in the system :)

Glad to hear you are QT'ing all incoming animals Roberto. For me, it's something I can't afford not to do w/the amount of fish I'll have in the 450.

That is very interesting data. I had thought hypo was fairly reliable.
I have really been debating between cupramine and hypo.

John,

What has been your experience using chloroquine phosphate ?

I use quinine sulphate for ich treatment. I've had good luck with it. Currently got my QT setup with my pyramid butterfly and QS. Treatment is only 7 days compared to copper and hyposalinity. Also no copper contamination. :)

Speaking of disease any chance to bring the Noga book so I can peek? Debated for years to get it for my library. Never looked at it though.

I gotta see if I can get off early tommorow still. I'll shoot you a pm or text when I find out...will you be using a overhead projector for the meeting ?
