Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

The one I gave Jim didn't touch zoanthids as far as I could tell. I had multiple zoa/ paly frags and a large colony of basic green zoas that showed no ill effects from him, but keep an eye on him nonetheless.

Mine is like a lawn mower for coraline algae. I would be worried if I had an acrylic tank.
They will scratch the crap out of your plastic.

It seems like the cardinal fish weren't the only ones getting busy while I was on vacation...shrimp eggs !

I plan on releasing the McCoskers wrasses into the main display, so I had to make a splash guard. I bought a couple window screen kits from OSH and used 1/4" clear netting from BRS. I made 3 separate screens for ease of removal.

Nice work Jim!
FYI I had to replace my screen after about 8 months.
My MH is about 18" away and the UV made it brittle enough to break and fall apart.

Interesting, I've had netting over my tank for almost two years now and it is still fine - just the difference between the MH and plasmas (my lights are about 14 inches over the screens)? Or possibly a difference in the screen material?

Yikes ! I have mine about 18" off the water also. What kind of netting did you use ? How did the frame hold up ?

My netting is fine still as well. I think its more the heat than the UV. Jon you don't have glass shields over your bulbs right? For me glass reduces the heat a lot.

...glass shields are next on the "to do list."

Well since you don't have corals to acclimate, you could just jump to LEDs and heat issue goes away ;)

.... flip side is I'll need more heaters for the tank. :p
