Day 3 camino de santiago.
Today (yesterday) Journey is from burgos spain to hornillos del camino. Total distance 20-12 Km or 12.5 -13 Miles.
Shot one is me with my so called game face on at 5am. Haha this is really happening let's get it.
This shows morning breakfast about 10km in or at the half way point.
This is the last 1.5km all down hill into hornillos del camino. This picture doesn't do it much justice showing height. Think of it. As a moderate sized Foothill like those in the southbay though maybe half their height.
This shows the fellow pilgrams at the albergue(hostel - shared dormitory) for my first ever communal meal.
Dinner was a Spanish rice dish with Chicken and vegetables called Paella (not to unsimilar to jambalaya)
To give a short account of the experience of my first day walking (day 3 in spain.) I started off with very high sprints. Getting to the halfway point honestly felt like a breeze. So much so after that first 15min breakfast break at half way point. I said with arrogance I got this and blew past the 3rd potential town for a quick rest break at the 3/4 point. Let's saynai was quickly humbled and that last 4th 6.5 Km started kicking my tail especially with only 3km to go. I would be lying if I said there was some insane up hill climbs. They probably weren't worth mentioning to most hikers. Yet I found them challenging to myself seeing back home I really even have to go up steps let along inclines. So the different muscle groups required going up verse just walking strait were protesting.
Never the less I pushed through although walking half the pace I did the first 3/4 of the trail on.
That first break of 15 Minutes I didn't feel anything. But later in the day I had lunch with a few 3 other pilgrims. Set down for almost 2 hours waiting for food. I had crap hurting that I didn't know could hurt. Super stiff and sore. This morning I'm still feeling sore but much better than yesterday evening. I'll just have to tough it out.
The pictures above only show a snippet of the adventures the last 3 days. I was able to get multiple drone shotsnand some crazy pics. I'm still trying to figure out. Way to display them maybe fb or something idk yet. Seems with the new website we can only upload . Pics at a time instead of the previous 10.
It's 415 am. In Spain as I write this heading into day four. The place I'm staying tonight doesn't open until 1230pm so I was planning to walk at 430am Getting there at 930am. But common sense prevails. I decided to wait till 6am and the faint signs of sunlight before beginning my journey.
