Humming Bird Web Cam - For All You Ornithologists - Check This Out During The Day Time

Here is a wicked good real time / non delayed web cam link to a mother humming bird and baby. Check it out. It's a large file, so it may take a moment or so for the page to load, but it'll be worth the wait. :glasses:

This one of the things I enjoy when not tending my aquariums

I've got it on my desktop too. I'm amazed how good the clarity is and the speed of the site, so I'm going to link my tank via webcam and stream my tank here. This way, I can watch / check in on my tank when I'm on vacation to make sure everything is cool; and maybe check on my house sitter too. :glasses:

Just need to take the time to figure out how to do this, get connected and see if there is any expense involved. I already have the cabling and cam from my PS3 that has good resolution....

Glad you folks are enjoying the link as much as we are here.

At the hotel where I used to work, there was a eucalyptus tree with a nest that was reused each year, sometmes two broods in the same year. Fun to watch.

We're so weird... we stalk humming birds... :(
I wonder if they know that we're stalking them! :O

I see your point. ;)

There's some truth to it.

I think you're.

Animal have a 6th sense about things like that. Once, I was video taping a bob cat across a field more that 750 ft away, and darn if that cat did not keep staring right into the lense. :glasses:

it could be that they have 5 senses and that a few of them are really really good and they can hear than sse you at 750ft :p

HEY, I got my tank on a live broadcast too. Just finished the software installs and fixes, so I can check in on my tank while I'm away. I'm still dialing in the lighting and getting the web cam close enough to make it better for the viewer. Here is a link to it

Check it why don't you.... :glasses:

This is great Joel. I can even hear the the crows.

Nice tank. That's a big yellow tang.

Will any web cam do?

Hey Bernie,

Thanks. I haven't checked in on the humming birds this morning - yet.

That's Sunshine. I've had that Tang for almost 12 years now. It was the reason I tore down my 38g and set up this 100g.

Glad you're enjoying the video stream too. I was so motivated after seeing the humming bird stream that I had to get my tank in the picture so to speak. I got my tank and PS3 Eye camera dialed in yesterday; and I'm streaming the tank now. It has a 23 fps refresh which is good, and as soon as uStream gives Mac users the HD Flash plug in, the resoulton will be outstanding. Check it out some time.

To answer your questions about the any webcam working I have to say "Yes." I hooked up my PS3 Eye camera yesterday just to see if I can get it to work; it took a while and I did get it working. This is the link once again - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/joel-s-humble-100

I ordered an upgraded web cam on Amazon last night, so I can put the Eye camera back on the PS3 and enjoy a better resolution while streaming. This was a highly recommended webcam, so I'm providing the article link and the actual Amazon link too for you to review. I'm a Mac user, so the review is for Macs, but the webcam will work on Window's OS too.

If you have a web cam now, I'd try giving it a shot first and see what results you get. As you can see, I'm getting decent results from the $32 PS3 Eye camera.... Let me know if I can help you configure your web cam. Just :mail: and I'll ring you back. I'm going to kick back today and watch the Superbowl.

BTW, your True Superman Monti is putting on some good growth and looks really nice in the aquarium. Thank you for giving me the chance to have it in my tank as this is one of my favorite corals.
