Cali Kid Corals

I got Ian's disease

nah... 2 max ;D

I would work on it this weekend if I'm not going to LAS..

damn I didn't know acrylic expand. Are you sure I need to use glass man?? The water temp won't get over 82. Do you think acrylic can expand at that temp?

I wouldn't be supprised if you can get something pretty close to that on auction now. haha. Not in the good parts of the bay though.

You can do what scuzy said to do. Make sure you cut the acrylic 1/4" of so short of each side and fill with silicon if you want to do that. The problem is that acrylic will actually take up water and expand. It has nothing to do with the temp.

IC.. 1/4" is a big gap man.. would 1/8" each side ok??

compliant meaning it will flex easily. There is a lot of plastic mounding that is a lot more flexable then the wood equivalent.

Lowes, Home Depot, etc

So I think the reason for the 1/4" gap would be because when the acrylic expands the slicone will need to compress. You are going to need a decent bulk of silicone for it to compress enough to compensate for the expansion of the acrylic.

I think I will go with a 40G breeder instead of the 30G cube. I want to put in a false wall but it takes too much space. Making it external would require too much work. I think setting up 2x40G breeder tanks next to others will look good .. One fresh, one salt ;D .. I need to figure out how to make a stand for them. 8)
