IM EXT 200 Peninsula Aquarium w∕ APS Stand - White

I just set up an IM75 EXT and one thing not so great about the stand is there’s really no way to mount a strap for the pipes to add support. You could just glue wood blocks or use some self drilling sheet metal screws, but I didn’t want to ruin the stand, so I came up with this.

I supported a couple wood blocks with the tension cams that IM sells for supporting shelves and routing out some 2x4 blocks to fit the tension cam in to hold the block in place. I’m sure you could have accomplished something similar with t-bolts and nuts, but I used the cams because I had some on hand.

80/20 T-slot stuff does fit the IM stand channels. I used the 8mm stuff and did have to shorten the screws a bit which is super easy if you have a belt grinder or sander. Someone else used the 6mm and didn’t mention needing to shorten the screws.

Here's their response:

Hello Derek,

Have you decided on a sump, @Beanju ?

Where did you buy the blue pipe and back elbow ?

Where did you buy the blue pipe and back elbow ?

HomeDepot.com and search “formufit.” All sorts of colors available for pipes and elbows to satisfy your color palette.

Usually ships from Florida and takes 4-7 days to get to you.

thx @RandyC damn I wish it was available locally. I will go with blue and grey connectors but I don't know what I will need yet.
I am still considering https://synergyreef.com/product/synergy-reef-sk-44-sump/ for the sump but I am starting to worry it's too small.
but I need space under the tank to fit the Mastertronic and all the crap ( dos container etc etc. )
not sure I have space around the tank to put a cabinet

Neptunes does carry the colored pipes, but not the colored elbows.

I need to go to neptune.
I don't know if I go bare bottom, sand or corals like they have at Neptune in all their tanks.
I am leaning toward coral for now

I bought the sump this morning, that’s done.
I currently have 2x XR30 gen5 pro on my RSR 350 i will be able to reuse , but I think I will need a third one. Thinking getting 1 gen6 and upgrade my 2 x gen5 to gen6 with their kit

Regarding the flow can I get away with my current 2x mp40 ? I don’t know yet

On my rsr I have the the vectra s2 , I have to check if that’s enough but my gutt and my wallet are telling me I will have to upgrade

that’s the rock scaping I have for inspiration for now

With this tank I believe I will have to setup my rodi outside but I don’t have much space . Limited by 24” deep and up to 64” height . Width is not a blocking parameter , I have to start shopping for a tiny shed to store the rodi + reservoir

Do you think 2x MP40s will do it or are you just planning to start with that and upgrade more later? Flow is probably one of the biggest concerns I have on a tank like this. I've seen some interesting approaches, but seems like a very challenging problem with a 6ft+ peninsula.

I looked on the eco tech simulator and they say 2xmp40s are enough . So I don’t really know to be honest . Thinking about starting with that and upgrade . The dual return on each side should help too
