Our mission

Jeremy's Tank

Well, the canopy is in place and the light mover is functional, "I'm Lovin' It" as Justin Timberlake would say.

Here's a pic ;)

I'll also be adding a remote live rock tank this week, and perhaps pull the frag area in the sump as well. I need to take a little break from fragging :p

Curious what's the point of a remote live rock tank? Simply a fancy fuge without algae? Just curious because I dumped a bunch of my extra rock into the sump of one of my tanks and it's in a dark area but damn if there isn't a plethora of life in there! Really long feather dusters (small ones), weird vascular animals (similar to sponges but maybe not).... however I'm unsure if its really having any sort of beneficial effect
I had a fuge on the tank a while ago and it was a cyano factory, I like fuges don't get me wrong, it just didn't work on my tank. In such a small tank with so many corals I'm at that point where I either get a bigger tank, or find more space to create a stable environment, hence the rock tank. Plus, with my new feed the crap out of the tank routine I think I'll get some beneficial critters going in the rock tank (I might even put some fancy tunicates, squirts, sponges etc. in there). My plan also is to fill the sump with some rock, and perhaps do an old school algae scrubber growing Ulva. My thoughts are to use some plastic gutter material at an angle, with aquaculture mesh. Water from my return would cascade down the gutter into my sump. That way I can get by with one Hardware store T5.

What I really need is a service that comes out once a week and takes care of my tank :D

Added a remote liverock tank over the weekend, I'd been cycling a tank filled with rock and a little sand (yes, sand) for a few weeks and finally put it on line. I also pulled the frag rack out of my sump, and added additional liverock there as well.

Remote liverock tank looks like this

I cherry picked some rocks with a lot of sponges on them, I count at least six varieties ;D

Awlrite, since pulling the frag rack, and adding the remote liverock tank, I had a slight Alk spike (between 12-13 dKH ), glad I caught it, time to knock a few minutes off the timer I guess ::)

The big news is, and I've held out on this one before I said anything to make sure it is what it is, I think :D

I started dosing Iron, and Amino Acids,, what a difference, my greens started to come back within days. Of course I don't know which one did it (I suspect the iron), but I'm not arguing, I got sick of gold instead of green. Everyday my colors slowly are coming back, not to say that my colors were lame, just limited, pinks, blues, yellows were all good, I had no greens though, now I think I'm on the right track. BTW, this started before the remote liverock tank and the pulling of the fag rack.

I'll post pics in a couple of weeks when there is more of a contrast.

You have any before and after shots, Jeremy?
I'm going to hold out and wait for a stronger contrast, not that you'll be able to tell anything with the crappy camera I have. I am usually a don't add anything unless you can test for it kind of guy, but after reading a little RHF stuff I got all amped on the iron as he described some of the issues I'm having in relation to iron and it made me think. AFA the Aminos, they are another thing I had been reading up on and it seemed as if people were having success, those were more anecdotal experiences. I do feel though, that there is a hole in my bottom up feeding regimen starting with Phyto, I probably wrong though :D

Here's the video of Brandi and her stuffed animal :) It's a bit quiet but you can slighty hear the stuffed animal squeak.

OMG that is the funniest thing ive ever seen LOL

I did some coral shuffling today and took another crappy FTS, it's not quite what I like right now and I plan on breaking the tank down to redo the rock work very soon.

Good god Jeremy, so much SPS!!!

Awesome!
Thank you!!!!

FYI all of the corals with the exception of two were grown from small frags over the course of 2 1/2 years. If you look at the first pic in the thread, that is only a year ago, so I'm quite happy with my growth in such a small tank.
