Jump starting the skimmer on co2 recirc set ups

Ok solved the big PH problem-of course it creates a minor problem.

So I have it that it goes from the skimmer silencer to the scrubber -out to the Venturi-
Issue is on the skimmer restart -right now I take the tube out of scrubber -blow through it and kazam-all is good. Otherwise it may take anywhere from 5 min to hours to resume normally. For a lot of reasons this is not desirable. Issue is water in the line after skimmer shuts down -normally not issue but due to the current set up -it gets trapped. Tried tying in air pump -no dice

However I would like to start dosing something which would entail turning it off the skimmer 20 min a day and then resume..

Any input appreciated -

I do not think this is setup up correctly Lawrence / @L/B Block - maybe i am misreading this though:

It should go like this:

Skimmer cup -> Scrubber -> Silencer

This way there should be no issue with turning off the skimmer.

I surprised you are seeing a PH improvement with your current setup.

Can’t go through skimmer cup-too much humidity even with moisture cup -sank the media in a week.
So I go silencer with the lid t’ed in with a valve and moisture cup to scrubber and then back to Venturi. Also means I get 4-6 weeks of media life out of it ..
I was up to 8.37 at some point..

The standard Reef Octopus recirculating CO2 scrubber setup is through the skimmer cup, so this should generally be feasible and enables the beneficial effect from the recirculation, i.e., significantly longer lasting media. I do not think the ‘air in’ should come from the silencer, which in my opinion causes your issue unless I am misreading/misunderstanding your setup.

I am using the BRS one so perhaps it’s not as robust at keeping out the moisture..

Either way getting the prolonged media life and a huge jump in PH.. if I can’t shut down the skimmer and restart it without issues automatically I’ll live
