I am no longer dosing kalk. But I was dosing 500-600 ml depending.

The tubing size for the Red Sea doser may be an issue and that “noise” may be the precipitation building in the tubing. Does it make that noise with other dosing liquids.

Using the avast was a big plus as it just pumped water in and didn’t have to worry about lines precipitating. Just take every 3 months -empty and wash out precipitation from tubing from avast (a must or water will flow through top)

I won’t comment on @Alexander1312 opinion but for me the kalk didn’t work so well with my PH issue (co2 scrubber to the rescue) & really tripped up the AFR dosing as I had to compensate for alk but then CA and trace elements were too low.
It doesn’t seem any louder than the other line (AFR). I’m fairly certain it’s always been about this loud. It’s not crazy, but even on “whisper” I can hear it go off every hour.

I really should look into a stirrer like you mentioned.

I know @Alexander1312 strongly advises against Kalk, which I respect. For me, it seems to work as advertised.

why are you doing kalk? If you are using AFR I def recommend being careful on that pathway

For the pH boost, and the fact that it’s an inexpensive way to supplement Calcium and Alkalinity. I understand it has no trace elements or Mg like AFR. I’ve been able to keep everything balanced with Kalk/AFR so far…
If it works it works.
What was your ph range before and current?

It often works short-term for most. And then people do not correlate subsequent issues they are seeing in their tank with the fact that they dosed Kalkwasser.

Folks who have a high alkalinity and CA consumption in their tank, and those who have bare bottom tanks, they might be ok for longer as their limit to dosing is daily evaporation and their consumption exceeds what Kalkwasser provides.

I just do not understand why folks want to save a few bucks if a good 2-part dosing is not really that expensive.

I checked my journal to see if I made a note of it but could not find anything. I seem to recall my pH being ~7.8-8.0 before Kalk and getting a slight boost after ~(0.1-0.2).

What kind of problems did you see when dosing AFR with Kalk?

Eventually trace elements depleted for the most part but depending on how much AFR you are running daily -the kalk may not be much of a difference.

Also for my tank-I was starting with a ph base of 7.8. Prob as I was heavily carbon dosing the kalk really wasn’t doing much (maybe raising by .1 tops). —by running a co2 scrubber I increased ph by .25 or so -so now my range 8.07 to 8.38.

Ah I see. I dose trace elements and Mg separately to supplement what's missing from the Kalk. I also use a CO2 scrubber for more pH boost. I haven't calibrated my pH probe in a while, which is currently reading 8.6-8.8 (this is probably wrong).

I’ll be selling my avast stirrer -if you want to try it before I sell it you can-you just have to pick up/drop off in Oakland.
