I have a Rimless 25 gallon tank, I just bought the gooseneck but can seem to figure out how to mount the bracket. Can part of the bracket go into the water? Here is a picture of how it was setup before. Wife complained about the look so i got the gooseneck.
The clamp can be somewhat below the waterline if you need it to be. Its designed to clamp on the top edge of the glass. Be careful when tightening not to over tighten and damage the glass or the clamp. Also, when bending into shape be careful as it can put stress on the glass and clamp as well.
The previous setup doesn't look so bad to me, however it pays to make the wife happy!
I had the base of the Kessil gooseneck partially submerged for over a year, and it showed no signs of rusting nor leeching anything into the water. If you're concerned, a few coatings of marine sealant will do the trick.
