Coral shots..........broke out the dive camera again. Some new, and some growing.

A little nervous about this one, but an Oregon Torte (so I was told). I have read they have green when newly fragged and then become deep blue. We'll see. Either way it is beautiful under the kessils.

Blue acro......was a tiny 10 dollar frag from neptune. Now getting big. ;)
IMG_2475.jpg

Tri color......was fragged from aquatic collection. Under LED's it has taken several months to get it's color back. Now starting to take off a bit.

Chalice (I think miami heat?) something like that.

Ponope birdsnest finally used to the LED's and thriving

Red mili? show's a lot of green under the kessils. Very cool.

Yellow / green acro. Been under the maxspect LED's since I got it over three months ago. Tripled in size.

Sunset moni is stunning under the kessils. I just stare at this thing.

Oh yeah!! That's looking good!
That 2nd pic looks like a palmers's mili

Thanks Erin, that one has definately become one of my favorite. It is so happy and BLUE!!! I think I need to start writing down the names of some of these, cause I have NO ideah on most of them. :~

Thanks Jim, you will have to come by and check it out again. The Kessils have really stepped it up a notch. A couple of the corals have been a little stressed with the sudden change, but the rest seem stoked on them. Two of my Acans were moved to the frag tank after they stopped opening under the new light. I cut them back to about 40% and everything else seems happy. Hopefully the Acans will recover under the T5's. Of course I have another Acan directly under one of the narrow A350's and it is LOVING it! Not sure why the others had such a reaction. :( I have one SPS that is in a bit of shock. Still feeding though, so I have left it alone in hopes that it will just take some time. My Tri-color was white for over a month when I put it under the LED's and now it's colored up and growing fast. Being able to dim the Kessils is really a nice feature.

Anyway, thanks......I'm so excited. I'm out of town for 2 weeks in august. STRESSED!!! I do NOT like leaving the tank at this point. I am waiting to set up the calcium reactor until I get back because I want to be able to monitor it closely. So I am adding buffer almost daily to keep the alk up and doing water changes weekly to keep the calcium up. It's working very well, but 2 weeks is a LONG time. We'll see.

Happy to stop by once or twice while you're gone to check in on it. Also, I have a bubble magus dosing pump sitting around you could borrow while you are gone...

Hi everyone.

Hope you don't mind me posting lots of pics. Been playing with lots of camera's and settings to get new and interesting pics.

Descovered INSTAGRAM!!! Way cool, and kinda fun. It is an iphone (or mobile device) app that adds different filters to your pics. There is a wide range from ULTRA sharp to 1970's faded. You can play with the filters after you take the shot and see what style you like. You can also take existing photo's and add filters to them. I have found that often it helps give a more realistic overall color / look to the pics. The LED's are difficult to shoot under, and the filters IMHO often help get some of the bright noise out of them. It does change, or inhance the colors a bit, so ***disclaimer*** These shots are not all color accurate. Just really cool and fun. Hope you like........BTW.....all shots were taken with my iphone and run through one of about 14 filters on Instagram.

One of my crazy brittle stars. We were trying to figure out how long we have had these two.....over 3 years, and I think closer to 4. They are HUGE!

New Derassa clam.....loving the Kessils.
IMG_2392.jpg

Cup coral in the morning.......just after the lights came on. It is not as purple as the pic, but still very beautiful and healthy tissues.

The hermit in the cup before the lights turn on. Pretty comfy bed.

A few more......

The giant mushroom (since moved to the frag tank for stinging my Stylo......tough decision, but I will show you the end result later) That is not a red monti. That is a bright orange Spongode (sp?)

Same shroom chowing down. Too cool!

Zoo's in the frag tank. Green Torte in the back.....waiting to go in.....had some tissue damage and recovering nicely.

Instagram'd FTS!

Thanks Erin! Shocking what a phone can do. Only a few years ago it would have taken thousands of dollars in equipment to use filters and take photo's like this. Just thought it was cool.

WOW ...very nice fts with the kessils Kris, I like that they are not too blue like some others I have seen with all led lights . Good job on finding a light combination thats pleasing to your eyes and mine :)

Thanks Sergio and Monzer!

Love the Kessils........You can really adjust the color a lot, however I keep them pretty much 50/50 white and blue.

Made a quick video of the tank progress. Going to take one with my dive camera at some point and see if I can get better quality up close. ;)

Tank is doing pretty good. Huge thanks to Mike (coralreefer) for swinging by and checking on the tank a few times while I was away. Tank did very well with the exception of a few corals that fell over and a couple that seem to be getting burned by the LED's. I have since moved those to the frag tank and added some new. I have adjusted the Kessils back down a bit. They are VERY powerful.

Biggest change I notice in the tank at the moment is the coraline algae. It has gone crazy! Very pleased to see it as many seem to think LED's don't grow coraline too well. I can assure you they do. Anyway, hope you like. Thanks,

Kris.
