Let’s see your outdoor/utility/garage water change setup!

Right now to change water I’m just using a 44 gallon rubermaid brute on casters. I just roll it outside between the rodi setup and aquarium for water changes. All I am using is a simple
Float valve for on/off.

I’d like to see some of your guys setup with plumbing to see what you came up with to make this process less effort.

Not outdoor but my garage

I changed the name of the thread. It doesn’t have to be outside. My intent was just “not in the living space”.

I don’t ever want to see equipment in my living space

Sadly now. 40’ away. that’s why I connected 50’ hose . So every time I need to top off or WC, I put the pump on , and bring the hose near the tank. I am planning to run permanent pipes directly to the tank but no motivation yet

1. RODI filter boosted by a RODI Buddy.

2. Two 50 L drums for top-off. They’re plumbed together. Avast Barrel Tender keeps top-off tanks from running dry. In one drum is an Apex PMUP. Could have done this with one but nice having extra water if needed. The 5 gal jug is just for having RODI water handy.

3. 50 L of salt water. I’ve got a float valve in it to shut refill off precisely where needed to drop in 2100 g salt, heater, and power head to mix to 35 PPT.

4. Apex DOS for auto water changes. One head for old water out. One head for new water in. I run it 4x a day and adjust volume to keep PO4 near 0.05.

5. All the lines go thru wall and under tank to the sump helping to keep the tank tidy, the mess in garage, and the Mrs. happy.

I’m scoping-out parts to build a patio garden cistern to store RODI waste. Apex will water the plants.

Here is my setup. Its a bit crazy and I still need to get the calcium reactor running. I have a couple of hose bibs in the closet and a floor sink to drain everything.

I had to take off the cover plate as the hole was too small.

Top tub is for RO storage, middle tub is for mixing saltwater and bottom tub is used to transfer 15+ gallons of saltwater to tank if big WC is needed.... otherwise I just use 2 5g buckets.

Top one is a 55g rodi storage, and bottom is a 44g brute for sw mix, as you can see I have pvc from brute over the door to the fish tank for semi-automatic water change without need to use anything else while changing the water.

Can do 80g water change in 30mins.

And my system is roughly 300g
187g display
50g lowboy
60g rimless frag tank
40g sump

And 50g lowboy standby when needed.
