Adding an airstone is not guaranteed to work. If the co2 in the house is high because it’s a well sealed house, could actually have the opposite effect.
In my experience it never work. I thinl because one airtime is nothing for the volume of water.
2nd if the issue is high co2 content in the air, airstone will not do nothing but bring more co2 to the system..

So what if I get an air stone and a air pump that pushes air through a scrubber and into the stone after being scrubbed. Eheim has 2 models which look interesting, they have two outputs so I could have them go pump -> one tube -> co2 scrubber -> tube -> airstone

I tried this before. It was not that effective. I thinl again because the airstone is small compared to the amount of air fusion skimmer does..

Alk has been super stable I think I’m dosing 7mL bionic 2-part. Today the pH went up because of the windows being open all day and then alk went lower which may mean increased intake, but I also added frags recently.

since he has no skimmer, i was saying this would be a way to help without adding a skimmer. i agree, if the co2 in the house is high it wont help (or will make it worse.) if the issue is his lack of air exchange because of no skimmer, this could help.

So airstone with the scrubber won’t work. If I get a skimmer is it feasible to just tune it to not skim much? I do not need additional nutrient export but I do want to increase pH and a scrubber seems to be the most reliable option. I’m going windows open again and surface agitation is high enough for that to make a difference, but I need something more consistent since I can’t always have my windows open.

Yes, I do this- I just raised the skimmer to the lowest water point and run it wide open for a dry skim. You will have to clean the neck more often than the collection cup in this case.

U really do not run skimmer?
Why do not you get small skimmer like the innovative marine one. I am using it mainly for purpose of air bubbles, thu its also a great skimmer so far

This tank has been filled for a little over a month now, rocks went in 7/22. And I’m spotting coralline on some rocks and on the frag rack. It is exciting to see how quickly this tank has progressed and without going through any major ugly phases. Fingers crossed it stays that way

I suppose it doesn’t matter if the water level is high enough for it to skim if I’m mostly looking to use it as a more effective airstone for co2 scrubbing
Yeh i also think regardless of the water hight(to an extent) it will still not matter, the simmer push water to and inside cavity at a flat level, then you adjust the cup for your cup cone bubble level. So I think regardless of the water height outside the skimmer, u will get the inside skimmer body water level skimmer need...
I think...

I put a gyre under the tall frag rack and am now a lot happier with how the flow is looking, eventually when I have stuff fill in more I will add another Nero but it’s working well now that the gyre keeps the bottom flowing while the Nero can cause surface agitation.

I have been keeping my windows open and have seen an increase in pH. I’ll probably buy a skimmer next month so I can hook up a co2 scrubber.

With the gyre I also picked up the marine depot cable organizer cabinet and will be moving my gear to that so everything can look less chaotic and rat nest like. I’ll hopefully get that all set this weekend, I think I’ll even be able to mount it to my t slot stand
