Michael's 168 build

This was pretty cool, I got to go up to @Thales house with Eric and picked up some "Beefy Blue Stag" DBTC. It is glued front and center on my sps side of the front arch.

Rich even signed my Reef Beef t-shirt!

I watched this go down in person yesterday. It made me want to go do a water change on my tank after watching all the reef roids go into that tank.

You’ve got a gorgeous tank and I can’t argue with the results though. Feed on!

Time to swap the pre-filter and some resin.

Reef Beef @Thales or Julian Sprung (in a video), or both told me that it is better to keep the rodi beads in a bag rather than throw them directly into the garbage so they stay together on their way to the landfill.

You can almost see the red bugs on the blue stag and the frogskin, but they don't mind and keep growing.

Tubastraea (sun coral) are starting to come out tonight. They are fully extended by around 9 pm.

This fish poop was so nicely formed and floating there I had to snap a picture.

This is probably my worst problem to deal with, knowing when to swap prefilters, and when to change resin. I get color changing resin but is it all supposed to be that light tan color when it's used up?
My sediment filter is the color of rust all the way to the center of it when I change it. Typically every 400ish gallons.

Yikes! Dirty pipes you have, probably makes you feel good when you drink or cook with that water :D
I was hoping it would cause some superpowers.

The best measure for the sediment filter on replacing it in my opinion is installing the pressure gauge after it. Once it drops below your preferred range, time to swap em. I let mine but up to 60psi before I change. Fresh sediment, I run at 80psi with booster pump.

If you have a 2nd (or 3rd) resin in line, then it is ok to let the color of the first resin to change completely. Once the resin has changed color, it has a different affinity for molecules and can release potentially harmful chemicals into the water. This is why I currently run 3 mixed bed resins, and will likely upgrade to cation and anion split, with a mixed after.

If you only have 1 mixed bed, probably good to change it when it is ~2/3 color changed as then you only have 1/3 the contact time on the good resin.

How's this for an aptasia? Almost 2" diameter! I squirted some alk solution in a syringe on top of it. The soda ash settled, I counted to ten, then swished it away. Now I only see the baby aptasia that are next to it.

The chalice receded when it was in the shade, so bringing it back into the light.

The monti digi has growing in a sheet over the still living acan as well as a single finger right next to the mouth of one acan polyp. The red blastomussa I glued a few months back is so happy it stung some of the underside of the acan on the right.

@MolaMola look at the feeding response from the IWSYU Mycedium I got from you! It has been growing nicely nice I picked it up at the 7 stills frag swap.

It was so happy becasue I was stirring up all of the detritus I could find to wet skim. Look at how beautiful this water coming out of my skimmer looks!
