got ethical husbandry?

My dKH is a little low

I just tested the dKH in one of my smaller tanks. It is on the low side, and I looking for insight as to what I can do to rectify this problem, and keep it from rolling up and down.
I currently do not dose anything in this tank -only weekly 10-15% water changes with regular IO salt.

I was thinking of using something like Kent dKH buffer, and buffering my bucket of pre-mixed salt water I used for water changes. I would add the appropriate amount of buffer to bring the dKH up to the desired level. I am open to suggestions as to what else I can do that may be more efficient.

Thanks!

if your pH is high (~>8.3) you can use baking soda
if your PH is low, you can use soda ash (baked baking soda)

Would it not be wise to begin buffering my water change water?
This way every time I do a water change it slowly elevates the dKH?

IMO if you are not actively dosing anything, don't start.

Could be your salt mix is simply deficient in alkalinity, in which case what I would do is test it before your water change, add what you need before doing the change (I personally like baking soda), and leave it as is.
