I purchased 5 Royal Gramma ( currently in qt) to establish a harem in my tank a week ago 1 died in
2 days into qt i dont think it was from killing one anothing. most likely probably from shipping stress. currently all rest getting along.hopefully only 1 will be a male as mature.

What's the goal? Breeding or just being able to observe the natural group behavior?

The Matt Wittenrich book has a nice writeup of breeding approaches for these. The more I think about it, the "pair" I had could have just been two that happened to get along.

Interesting, never heard of that before either.
There are not that many groups that work well in an aquarium.
Keep us up to date.

Any idea what the minimum number is, or is there one?
My experience with Chromis seems to be about 5. Above that, they do great. Below that, you quickly end up with 2 or 1.

One of my very favorites. I’d really like to have a group of them, just never seen it and heard it’s not a good idea.
Guess like most things there are ways to do it. Small/young group that is together from early on makes sense.
