My experience with diaseris/plates/etc. frags has been poor at best over the years. They often just slough off tissue and die overnight (looks like this one did the same). The fact that one is smaller than a fingernail probably didn't help either.

That's always frustrating. I recently had a nice Zoa which had grown from one to four polyps, and then seemingly overnight it was gone like it had never been on the plug.

Unrelated, but i noticed you also bid on that Scoly and Rapunzel torch from CaliKid. Those were nice pieces.

Yeah they shot up crazy high in price on there so I ended up grabbing two really nice cynarinas and a rainbow pectinia.
 
I'm officially less of an idiot :cool: I have Two trash cans with rollers lmfao

I am finally beginning to fully utilize the full potential of my skimmer! I had already incorporated the Co2 scubber last month and am genuinely amazed with the improvement in my pH level. I now maintain a steady 8.4, which is significantly higher than the previous range of 7.7-8.1. Unfortunately, this isn't the reason for my post. Instead, it's the fact that I recently added the drain line for my skimmer, which is my most gratifying achievement lmfao

You can actually use it to do water changes too by aggressively wet skimming. Kenny does that in his displays. Just be careful with your return chamber volume or if you have any ATO situation since if anything disrupts your sump level you could end up with a flood plus a brackish tank.

Yeah I normally keep my sump level a little lower than this but when I do water changes I have a tendency to put more water in than I take out. So it's a little high right now but the sump is 74 gallons and should be able to handle all the ato water and the return water if something fails or both.
 
Soooooo....while messing with the tank my wife and little one went up to bed and I went on a good old cental valley crack head mission late into the night. Don't judge tomorrow the wiring should be properly secured to the wall "not by tape" and hidden by a hopefully painted wall strip lol we will see how motivated i am. The lights still need to be leveled and probably lowered a bit but nonetheless here it is in all it's glory. Let's all take a second and pray my lights arent in the fish tank in the morning lol

What did you end up using to attach the light mount to the ceiling?

I still went with toggle bolts just alot smaller ones then I planned on using. I'm kind of upset with myself because I should have used the bigger ones because they are just better quality and don't feel as cheap. The ones i got are still rated for 75 pounds. Then I went with the wire style like the one pictured that uses a screw to run in the rms channel to hold the bar. I bought stainless machine screws with a number 6 washer what I grinded down on each side so it would slide into the channel. I could have probably went with a number 5 washer that might have fit but wanted as much surface area as possible.

Just to make sure- because if you asked me a year ago I’d have no idea lol… you screwed that into a stud in your ceiling? I used hooks that had a little wing to hang the wire because I realized where I wanted the lights there wasn’t a stud
