No, FedEx -- it's not "potentially" delayed. It definitely is...

Finally! On truck for delivery... after being held locally for almost 2 days...

...all it took was a call to escalate case.

FedEx: "you have two options. We will raise ticket to have the package out for delivery tomorrow or we can hold it for you to pick up on Thurs..."

Er... i guess deliver tomorrow? (In my head thinking... @#$! Shouldn't you have it on truck to deliver soon as you can anyway given how late you already are???)

Finally received my new Sicce PSK 1200 SDC today! Was pretty excited...

Sadly, upon opening the box, i discovered that the pump was covered in dirt and had a dent on one corner. There was dirt on the other pieces included inside as well...not what I expect from a new in box product. And pretty sure it's not a return since stores just starting recieving them.

That said, a quick wipe and show continues.

The existing AC pump inside the Vertex has a base plate glued onto it that both support the pump and allows for it to be mounted onto the skimmer base with screws. The plate looks glued on pretty solid to the pump. So 3D printer to the rescue. After 2 prototypes, i finally made one that works. :)

Rather than design the plate with screw holes, i thought the better way is to drill the holes post-print for better accuracy. So 2 prints, a few runs with with the drill, and a pass of a 5mm tap to thread the hole. I have a pretty decent solution to adapt the new pump to drop perfectly into place inside the skimmer body.

Plus side, the red plate on black make the pump look like it will run faster and better...like racing stripes for cars. Lol.

To mount the plate to the pump, i used silicone on hopes of getting a bit extra vibration dampening for a hopefully even more quiet operaton . Now just waiting for the silicone to adhere and cure overnight.

I have been using the psk1000 on my ATB skimmer, is the psk1200 way better?
The PSK 1000 equivalent is what is in the Vertex Omega 180i sump I have (modified PSK 600 / 1000). The PSK 1200 SDC is their new DC version... Going after more quiet operations which is my primary motivation. The one editorial review I've seen so far have indicated better skimming from the new SDC version, though.

Finished the upgrade today. The original Vertex 180i pump is a heavily modded Sicce PSK 1000. So, had to copy the mods. Some, like the impeller cap, i was able to swap from the old to the new, others i had to DIY including cutting away part of the housing to fit the venturi extension ring and cutting deeper groove to fit the fat and round DC cable.

Flipped it on today. Dead silent at 100%!!

Looks great! I hope you tried out the pump first after seeing the condition. And I agree about the racing stripe effect.
I threw caution to the wind and went ahead to do the full mod anyway... :). I had a tense moment where the pump didn't turn on after I finished the work , and reinstalled the skimmer. Luckily after a reboot, everything was working. Whew!
