Hey all,

Anyone know where to find neon gobies in the East Bay? I checked w/ Aquarium Concepts, but they're not getting any shipments in anymore. Not sure why :(.

Also, has anyone observed them exercise their grooming capacity in aquariums?

Thanks!

Thanks Levi. What kind of fish do they normally groom, larger or smaller fish? The largest fish I have in my tank will be a Percula Clown.

I've seen them doing their thing in larger tanks with larger fish. I'm not sure, but I can ask my contact down in San Diego who is/was breeding them if he'll ship up here. Let me know if you're interested.

edit: by larger fish I mean tangs etc. Never seen my clown get cleaned by anything, even a cleaner shrimp.

Watched it today, the big hippo tang was loving it.

IMO the best place to get them are at your LFS that orders through ORA, the captive ones thrive ;D

My tangs also like being cleaned by my neon gobie. The clowns chase away the cleaner shrimp if it gets too near. I have seen them scraping on a mushroom as a replacement for an anemone (which would probably sting any parasite the clowns picked up).

Phishphood, I'd be interested in a couple more gobies too.

I sent Max at the Aquarium Showroom a message to see if he has or can get captive bred neon gobies because I have been wanting a couple for a while as well but never found them anywhere at the local LFS.

If he can not get them I would be interested in two as well Phishphood.

Oh great, that's probably the closest LFS to me. I will give them a call. Thanks Jeremy!

This is odd, I had no idea there was such a desire for neon gobies out there. I too have been looking and calling for them. If anyone finds enough I would also be interested.

Being there is only one guy that is breeding them commercially in SD, you let the cat out of the bag all ready  Sorry, no back tracking now!
