New ancient discovery! IMPORTANT!

Guess what! i just discovered an ancient polyp of Xenia growing on one of my rocks. It was left from the one that dies so I want to move it. How do you detach xenia from a rock and place it elsewhere?

usually if it's on a flat rock or glass - you can just peel it off.
Otherwise I just use tweezers right where it touches the rock on pull. Make sure you squeeze tweezers as much as you can.

Also I think if you cut it with scissors then new Xenia will grow there, not sure if you want it ;-)

Uhhh, i think i squeezed a bit too hard. It shriveled and the stem is short now

Let it recover, Xenia is tough stuff. If you don't want to risk injuring it you can carefully chip away at the base and try not to damage the foot.

It does shrivel. I usually put it into a small shell and low flow and it attaches in a several days.
