I think someone gave me a few of those when I set up tank. Different, But there is currently a plastic type called Easy FragJon @ Boston Aqua Farms played with that a decade ago, both plugs and tiles.
I thought the grooves would simply be on the bottom. Top can be flat.It’d be good to prototype a few different size grooves to see which resist detritus and algae the best, so corals are able to grow over the grooves.
