We lost another 1 of the club’s coral flashlights at this swap. That makes 4 that have been lost/taken in the past few swaps since we bought them. They have those long black lanyards to help you realize they are the club’s flashlights. These are not meant to be souvenirs.

If you took home the flashlight from this swap or previous ones, please bring it back to the next event and give it to me or another board member so we can keep offering them for use at swaps. Bonus points if you recharge the AA battery first.
I thought I counted 10. Maybe I miscounted. I’m sorry.

stealing a flashlight from a coral event has to be the lamest crime ever!

Next frag swap the flashlights will look like gas station bathroom keys

My office bathroom key experience – 10-12 insights…

These flashlight issues baffle me. Maybe people take it accidentally and then realize it and feel these cannot be safely returned without being called out as the person who stole the flashlight. Maybe we can offer a box to put the flashlights in anonymously at one of the next events.
I like this idea! I could see someone feeling nervous to return when it could’ve very realistically been an honest mistake

that'd be my guess, I doubt someone would spend thousands on coral and gear then risk losing the trust of everyone for a 20$ flashlight

To clarify, I’m pretty confident they are being taken by mistake. If I thought they were being intentionally stolen there’d be no point in posting like I did. I just want them to be returned and not taken next time so that we can continue to have these for swaps.

When I was doing coral check in I saw the ones with the scannable codes, but for the ones I saw they all also had the regular labels with names on the side. In my opinion trying out new approaches is great, as long as the required info is also there in the expected spot and the containers meet the rules.
Oh yeah that was me! They had the complete labels on the side. I don't know the names of anything, my phones already out googling the names of whatever I pick up, for me personally I rather have seen a photo of the colony. Originally the QR code was going to be on the side but the containers did not come with a clear lid like they were supposed to be, so I just put it on top.
