u are lucky your blue tang hasn't picked on your zoas, i went 3 for 3 that cleaned my zoas.

The only time he has picked on a coral was a cyphastrea. I actually saw him with the frag in his month and he relocated it. After that the frag went into decline. It receded to one polyp. Right now it is in the garage tank and has grown 3-4 four new polyps.

Went to Neptune Aquatics on Friday to buy another bucket of Tropic Marine Salt. Lucky I went, they only had two buckets that I could see. Was also looking for a Royal Gramma but there next shipment won’t be until Tuesday. So I’ll be back there next week. The corals were calling my name so I bought a Leptastrea. I’ve always eyed them the other times I have gone but never pulled the trigger until yesterday.

Just got the new pump and impeller for the Nyos skimmer. Noticed the impeller is different. It was being more noisy but that has gone away. Now it wont stop overflowing. I have it wide open. Since its a new pump is there a break-in period for it. I know with new skimmers there can be a break-in period.

Just bought 3 Hydra 52’s non HD from @Matt_Wandell. Two are replacing the Vegas on the garage tank and the third one will go with the two that are already on the main tank. First picture is the Vegas, second is with Vegas and 52, third is with both 52’s. I’ll have to check PAR and possibly reduce.

I have outside air and Co2 scrubber teed straight into the Venturi which I do have ball valves on both lines. If I try and close them with this new pump/impeller it creates a lot of micro bubbles. Like I said I have the water level wide open so I can’t adjust the water level in the skimmer lower. When I had the old pump/impeller the water level in the sump was close to 9.5-10 inches. Just now I lowered it to 8 inches(the recommended height in the manual) and the overflowing just about stopped. Hopefully I’ll hear back from Ecotech and see what they say. But it seems like I will have to make a platform so the skimmer is higher so I can keep that 9.5-10 inches.

While I was writing this post I did some investigating. It’s the impeller that causing the issue. Just replaced the new with the old impeller. The skimmer is working like it was before. No overflowing and I can see the water level line in the skimmer.

Don’t know what to do now. Do I keep the old impeller in even though there is some discoloration?

The first video is with the new impeller. You can see the bubbles are much lower then the plate, which when I look closer is also escaping the skimmer body.The second video is the old impeller. You can see the bubbles start above the plate.

It seems like my trochus snails in my garage tank love it enough to make babies. The last two months I found two adult snails in the sump. I thought maybe they some how escaped the tank and made it some how into the sump. I had originally bought 8 I think last year or the beginning of this year. These two make it 10.

Then today I was cleaning the skimmer (AquaC EV-180) and noticed a baby trochus snail in it.

Then last Friday I got a pink boobie chalice from @Srt4eric and got a blue leptosaris from Neptune Aquatics.

Sadly my Lubbock wrasse I got in June passed away. Last night it jumped behind the tank when I was doing some coral work. I was able to get it back in the tank with five minutes. After another five minutes of it laying on the sand gasping it did swim away on its own, so I thought that was a good sign. Guess it wasn't.

Picked up my order of BiotaAquariums fish and coral. This is the second order. The first order was just fish but they died in the tank. The two Mandarin fish got killed by aiptasia and the two filefish I put in the sump probably died since I cant find them.

Today's order had the same fish plus the Blue Neon Cleaner Goby that couldn't come with the last order and I decided to add 3 Acropora and a Chalice farmed in Palau. This time around I made acclimation boxes for the fish. But the Cleaner Goby still got out through the holes. But it seems fine. Its swimming around and seems to be eating.

Aiptasia killing a fish? Not sure I’ve heard of that before…

Fish look great, so little! I think that is a Tetralia crab, likely safe. It's the hairy crabs that are usually the bad ones in my experience. I'd probably pop the corals off the base discs to prevent anything else that might be growing on them from spreading.
