First some supplies I picked up from this past weekend.
Matt was nice enough to give away his surplus of reef equipment so I picked up his old 75g AGA to use as a transfer and holding tank and came away with a fuge light and a couple of pumps as well. Thanks again !
I never thought to use glass. In all my DIY sumps, I have always had acrylic baffles inside a glass tank. Is there an advantage ?

Why are you using acrylic baffles with glass tank?? Glass would be a much better choice..

I have not planned on enclosing the area behind the tank. If I am super motivated I will finish the underside of the stairs with shelves.

I have officially ordered my tank today. Will be made by Gen at Kritter.
Two weeks from now will be my early Christmas
Specs:
48"x36"x24" Acrylic
Eurobraced
3/4" top
1/2" Sides and 3/8" bottom
5"x10" overflow box at center back (1200 gph) 6.5x turnover
Lots to do still:
Paint the stand.
Finish the plywood top.
Finish the opening in the wall.
Frame out the ceiling above the tank.
Finish the underside of the stair
Build lower shelf to stand.

Gen went with 1/2" sides? With my tank he didn't want to do 1/2" sides. Weird. He said he would only make it with 3/4" (I didn't end up going with Gen). And my tank is smaller than yours. Did he say how big of an eurobrace?
Aren't your rims of the tank less than 5". For mine, I have 5" around the front and sides and 6" on the back edge

Thank you. So far I have not had a baffle fail yet. Guess I schlop on the silicon heavy.
Yep, 48" wide, 36" front to back and 24" high.

Good to hear that.. 8) ..
How much Gen charges for that tank?? If you don't mind
Hey good luck with your setup. The depth is nice isn't it Mike ?

The thickness of that tank is definitely thicker than my 48x36x24 But then again it has a monster brace over the top.
We'll see Joyce, I just tested the overflow I put on, it's nice and leak free, now need to clean the sucker... but by this weekend fish will be swimming in it!
