I sell a ton of carbide tooling that is used for acrylic. Most tooling now a days is carbide.Carbide cutting acrylic...overkill much on the material hardness? Hahaha
And wow, that is some detailed lathe work to get around an off the shelf solution. I am simply impressed.

Mine is clamped to the tabletop, not the glass.Inspired by @Mason 's DIY Hydra 26 mount, I'm designing one for my tank.
The main difference is that the light will be sitting on the countertop, and not clamped to the 5mm thick tank glass and running the risk of cracking it.

My tank is sitting on a granite countertop. So I cant mount it like you have
I wasn't comfortable clamping it to the thin glass on my tank, so its sitting on the counter.
