Cali Kid Corals

Thomas' CADE Reef 1500 S2

From what I saw in person, I do not think it is aptasia. That Bartholomea annulata is definitely an interesting animal with a lot of personality lol. I can see why you kept it.

It's definitely not, it's a Bartholomea annulata. Same family, but different genus. Berghia didn't touch it, the copperband doesn't touch it, it's from the Caribbean, probably 4-5 inches in length, doesn't sting corals, and it has a reflexive reaction to touch that is totally different. Next goal is to track down a Pederson's cleaner shrimp since they have a "hosting" relationship. My sexy shrimp used to do the same too.

That looks interesting. Would love to see yours if it gets bigger.

Back after 23 days of vacation. Looks like I lost one firefish, but everything else seems fine. Alk only dropped 2 dKh during this time since there aren't many stony corals still. @Srt4eric did a great job keeping things fine stopping by once a week. He had to add an extra 300W heater since the lower temps from the Nest thermostat while we were away meant I needed more power. 2x200W just wasn't enough.

The tiny Tomini tang is a little bigger and its fin is still healing. The copperband and Bellus angels aren't zooming around like crazy idiots anymore too!

There's a little algae on the sand but otherwise coralline is showing up and the cut corals are healed up.

Waiting until my @ReeFi lights come in and will pick up more rock soon. The single Kessil A360 XE looks great color wise after adding the Wi-Fi module.

Debating if I want to add a larger angel like an imperator, but the tank is probably a foot too small. Saw a few in Florida that act like dogs, really cool fish.

Specifically it likes the San Francisco Bay brand of mysis, credit @CaseyP for that one! It definitely is stinkier and darker brown than the BRS one that it won't touch. Doesn't like the PE mysis flakes, the cobalt mysis flakes, or any pellet that I've tried online that others on sites mentioned. I mixed in some calanus that seems to get them all excited too.

But even a minute of Plank "on" status seems to barely put much food out and of course the hogs like the wrasse, clown, and molly seem to get the food first, but at least the CB didn't look skinny. Still will always feed frozen when I'm home of course for variety.

I'm wondering if there's any freeze dried worms or shaved clam out there that would work too?
